India vs Australia, Full Cricket Score, 4th Test at Brisbane, Day 5, Highlights: Pant masterclass guides visitors to memorable series win
Firstcricket Staff •What a tour this has been! To bounce back after MCG’s horror 36-all out, draw the Sydney Test and win at Gabba, Australia’s fortress, just shows the character of this team. And India were without Kohli, Bumrah, Shami, Ashwin, Jadeja. Still, to win by a 2-1 scoreline in Australia’s backyard teaches you a lesson – never write off this new-age Indian cricket team. India have plenty of reserves, each individual hungry to prove his mettle. In that respect, as Harsha Bhogle said, due credit must be given to the "finishing school that Rahul Dravid is." That’s it from us today. We hope you enjoyed our coverage of India’s Australia tour. This is Sameer Chhabra and Shubham Pandey signing off. Adios.
India vs Australia, Highlights, 4th Test at Brisbane, Day 4, Full Cricket Score: Play abandoned due to rain; visitors need 324 runs to win
Firstcricket Staff •Alright, so the play has been abandoned on Day 4 due to rain. It is still pouring at Gabba. We have lost around 27 overs again today, with one more day to go and even if we start half an hour early, we won't be able to see recovering these overs tomorrow. So India need to bat out 98 overs tomorrow. They are 4/0 currently. Australia batted well to set India a target of 328 earlier. Siraj completed his first five-for and let this day be just about him and the Indian bowlers. They were seen as an inexperienced attack, and no one hoped a lot from them, they were rather expected to struggle but Siraj led from the front, Natarajan bowled with heart, Thakur showed his first-class experience and Saini bowled in second innings despite groin injury, Sundar kept picking wickets and kept it tight from one end as lone spinner. Magnificent day for India with the ball in hand. Theyhave picked 20 wickets in the game. See you tomorrow at 4 am IST. Expect a hard day of Test cricket from the two teams. Till then, take care and good-bye.
India vs Australia, Highlights, 4th Test at Brisbane, Day 3, Full Cricket Score: Harris, Warner guide hosts to 20/0 at stumps
Firstcricket Staff •A day of resilience for India. Half centurions Shardul and Sundar showed great maturity and character. India will be mighty pleased after managing 336. Australia just marginally ahead with a lead by 54 runs at the end of day’s play. Both their openers will take guard tomorrow. ‘ We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Do join us early morning tomorrow for Day 4’s coverage. Adios!
India vs Australia Highlights, 3rd Test at SCG, Day 5, Full Cricket Score: Ashwin, Vihari's resilience helps visitors draw game
Firstcricket Staff •After five days of intense Test cricket, the two teams cannot be separated as India pull off something similar to a heist, if the term can be applied in the context of a draw. Five days of facing Smith and Labuschagne’s brilliance with the bat, the pace trio and Lyon bowling as sharply as ever and some hostilities from the crowd, in addition to the spate of injuries and the absence of their talismanic regular captain. If the Gill-Rohit opening stand gave the early impetus, it was the surreal counter-attack by Pant and Pujara that truly turned things around today, with Vihari and Ashwin’s stonewalling efforts in the end while battling physical discomfort the cherry on the cake.India will look to carry the momentum over to the Gabba, a venue that is considered Australia’s fortress, with the series still level 1-1. Given the way Rahane and Co have fought back after the 36 all out debacle, they’ll certainly hope to end the tour on a high. For now, it’s time for me to sign off on behalf of my colleague Shubham!
India vs Australia Highlights, 3rd Test at SCG, Day 4, Full Cricket Score: Hazlewood and Cummins' strikes restricts visitors to 98/2 at stumps
Firstcricket Staff •Stumps, Day 4. Rahane plays well to evade further damage to the India scorecard. Lyon tested him in the last over of the day with some loopy deliveries with bat-pad and slips in place. Pujara and Rahane will resume innings and India's fight from 98/2. They need 309 runs to win. To draw, they need to bat for three sessions. Not to forget, Jadeja will not bat and Pant still has some pain in his arm that dealt the blow in first innings. Huge task for India tomorrow, with Vihari not among runs and short on confidence. We will see you tomorrow at 3.30 am IST.
