The Paris Motor Show usually sees new launches from well known names and this year saw a variety of concept and production ready electric vehicles. While most of the attention is taken up by automakers like Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, there are always a few hidden surprises.
One of them was the GLM G4 . Designed by exotic car company Savage Rivale in the Netherlands, the four-seat sedan features four gull-wing doors and sure seems to run on a petrol hogging engine. However, the company approached by Japanese carmaker GLM to use the design for an electric drive system. Yup, that blue supercar runs on an electric power.
To be precise, the car runs on two electric motors in the front and rear that drive the axles through a multi-speed transmission at each end. Each motor has multiple windings on the stator that can be individually energized to change the basic motor characteristics to adjust to different speed and load ranges. Thanks to this setup. the electric supercar is said to reach 261 miles (420 kms) on a single charge and 0-100 kms takes just under 3.6 seconds with top speeds touching a crazy 250 kmph!
The car showcased at the Paris Motor show featured slim headlights, a low ground clearance, heavily raked roofline, and an interior with a flat-bottom steering wheel and white upholstery.
GLM is preparing to get the car ready for production in Japan and it will be sold there first, followed by Hong Kong and Singapore. Prices are expected to reach around 200,000 euros with is roughly Rs 1.49 crore.
