High-end Battlefield game coming to mobiles, says EA

Battlefield might be going multiplatform on a whole new level. Apart from coming out on the two consoles and PC, the game might soon make its way to mobiles. In an interview with New York Times , EA Labels boss Frank Gibaeu said that the company is currently working on bringing the game to mobiles.

The work on a mobile version of Battlefield apparently started when studio DICE was working on bringing Battlefield 4’s Commander Mode to tablets. Gibeau still hasn’t revealed what kind of game it will be, however, and we’re hoping its not an FPS, since touch controls don’t work well with the genre. Gibeau has mentioned that it will be a “high-end” game.

EXPLOSHUN!

We doubt it’ll be this high-end

“We are working on a mobile game of Battlefield that will be high-end and high performance,” Gibeau said. “It’s our bet that we can successfully pull that off. But we’re embarking on something no one has ever done before — to get these games to inter-operate between platforms. Will it work? It already has in some cases. Will it work for all franchises? Not all franchises will make the transition. Battlefield might be a little harder.”

When it comes down to gameplay, we hope that it’s more like the recent Call of Duty: Strike Team , which placed a greater emphasis on tactics while still having some FPS gameplay. If it wants to go all the way, it could also become something akin to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which was ported to iOS devices earlier this year.

Battlefield 4 will be hitting PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in November.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
