Gionee M5 certified by TENAA; may include 6000 mAh battery pack

After rumours of the upcoming Gionee Elife E8 surfaced, there has been a new leak in certain specifications of the new M5 smartphone. Earlier, Gionee posted a teaser on its  Weibo  account which hinted at the handset with two batteries. Apparently, the New Gionee M5 has now been spotted for certification on TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC) along with a few specifications. The listing on TENAA  shows that the smartphone will feature dual batteries and will pack in an impressive 6000 mAh.

The device is said to have a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. It might be powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, paired with 2GB RAM. It also lists down the internal storage as 16GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It is mostly likely to feature an 8MP rear camera along with a 5MP front facing camera. Gionee M5 seems to be the first Android Lollipop based smartphone to support dual batteries.

If the main USP for the M5 is its dual-battery, then the upcoming  Gionee Elife E8 , which is slated for a global launch on June 10 at an event held in Beijing, is said to sport a 3MP sensor with lossless zoom. In other rumoured features, the Elife E8 will feature a 4.6-inch quad HD AMOLED display which offers a 2560 x 1440 ppi resolution. It will be powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor paired with a 3GB RAM. In terms of memory, the device will have an internal storage of 32GB which can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

The device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box with the company’s Amigo 3.0 custom UI skin on top. It is also said that it will be powered by a 3520mAh battery and support4G LTE networks. This handset will measure 164 x 82.3 x 9.6mm and weight 207 grams.
