Crytek has announced a new game, dubbed Ryse, exclusively for the Xbox One. According to the official website , it will have controller-based gameplay that will be “enhanced by Kinect". The website has a countdown timer with Roman numerals counting down to when Crytek will reveal more details about the game. At the time of writing, the timer reads 28 days remaining.

Judging by the general style of the website and the text on it, the game seems to be set in the Roman time. The tagline of the game reads “Filius Romae Venit MMXIII,”, which Google literally translates to, “Son came to Rome in 2013”. Other text on the website reads “Fight as a soldier. Lead as a general. Rise as a legend". Ryse will be a first-person hack-and-slash game set during the days of the Roman empire.

The game was originally announced back in 2010 at E3 that year as Codename: Kingdoms. It was shown again a year later at E3 2011. It was then that Microsoft announced players would be able to control their character by using the Kinect. At last year’s E3, Phil Spencer of Microsoft had told Polygon that the company was “still building Ryse", and that the game wouldn’t be ready to launch for another year.

It was rumoured back in April that Ryse would be one of the launch titles for the Xbox One. Alongside Ryse, a new Forza game, a game featuring zombies and a family-oriented casual game were the rumoured launch titles for the console.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
