China's meaty scandal: Duck, pork found in sliced mutton

Discovery of duck and pork in sliced “mutton” surprised members of Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce forcing them to ban two batches of the fake meat.

China Daily, which took the report from Bejing Times, said , “Fake mutton is hard to identify and usually used by barbecue stalls and small hotpot restaurants.”

Only in 2013, Chinese “authorities seized 20,000 tons of illegal products and solved 382 cases of meat-related crime” while arresting over 900 people.

Food safety has always remained a concern for China, reported China Daily .
