It’s been a good five years and all we had was renderings and the concept of the Lamborghini’s Urus SUV, until now. While Lamborghini has already confirmed that it would hit production, we had no clue what it looked like until a spy photo of the SUV surfaced online. Yes, the Lamborghini Urus is coming, it is being tested and here’s our first glimpse of what would the the coolest looking SUV of all time.

The sporty SUV was spotted in Denmark, and reportedly had a production body on. So even with the camouflage, we are happy to report that it still looks a lot like the concept that was unveiled about five years ago.

While the design remains the same with the sloping roofline, along with an angular back end, along with those large boxy wheel arches, it somehow seems to have lost its muscular look.

The overhangs remain the same but the meaty body panel covering the rear wheel (that almost gave it a wide-body look) seems to be absorbed and flattened out. In short it does not look as sculpted as the concept, which kind of takes away the Lamborghini look and charm. Frankly speaking, the only indicators out here are the rear LED tail lights, the sloping roofline and those chunky wheel arches. There’s no fancy looking rear diffuser either like on the edgy concept model. But we will know better once more images begin to leak out.

Lamborghini is expected to announce a production model of the Urus (pictured above) at the Auto Shanghai 2017.

So far Lamborghini has confirmed that brand will maintain the ‘Urus’ name for its first modern SUV (we had the LM002 earlier) offering which comes after more than a decade of building grand tourers and super cars.

If you were wondering why the camouflaged vehicle looks no different compared to the offering from others like Audi and VW, well that’s because it uses the same MLB Evo platform. However at the launch, it is going to be interesting to see what powertrain Lamborghini chooses as rumours hint at a biturbo 4.0-litre V8 gasoline engine but the company could also showcase one with a plug-in hybrid  setup. According to Motor1 even an all-electric vehicle is being considered, so the powertrain in this beast is going to be a surprise.
