New Facebook Messenger for iOS likely to support video calls

Last year, Facebook and Skype were exploring the possibility of a partnership and this year, Facebook-to-Facebook video calling within Skype  was made accessible to some users. The most recent report by iPhoneItalia now claims that the new version of Facebook Messenger app will offer video calls across multiple platforms, including iOS devices, and the website carried some screenshots, which may look a little misleading, but seem to be a signal enough to know that it may well be on its way.

The Facebook Messenger app received major updates in October, this year. Reportedly, the upcoming version of Facebook Messenger app is already being tested. This update will enable Facebook-ers to video chat among themselves through different platforms. Apparently, the Facebook Messenger, which is being tested could release anytime sooner. So, is this a threat to Skype?
