Jake Paul might just have regretted challenging British boxing star Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight showdown in Miami a little over a year after his contentious victory over Mike Tyson in an exhibition match. While the YouTube-turned-boxer was declared winner by unanimous decision after lasting eight rounds against Tyson, he was brutally outpunched by two-time heavyweight champion Joshua last Friday.
Not only did he suffer a sixth-round knockout at the Kaseya Center after getting felled twice in Round 5, he has also suffered a broken jaw and has had teeth removed and titanium plates fitted in a surgery after his bout.
The 28-year-old also struggled to speak while appearing on the IMPAULSIVE podcast hosted by his elder brother Logan – who also started out as a YouTuber and later joined World Wrestling Entertainment as a professional wrestler – a day after the beating at the hands of Joshua.
“It’s like there’s a baseball in there. Four titanium plates. It’s literally snapped, bro, completely snapped,” Jake told Logan during the episode that aired on Tuesday.
‘I was doing good’
Jake, however, insisted he was satisfied with his performance against Joshua, who is expected to shift his attention to challenging reigning heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, whom he had surrendered his WBA, IBF and WBO titles to in 2021 and had unsuccessfully challenged for the same the following year.
“I mean, it’s not that hard to get your a– beat. Actually, I won two rounds, then he won two, then I got dropped,” the younger Paul sibling quipped.

Paul was originally scheduled to face Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, who is a lot lighter than Joshua at 135 points. Davis’ name, however, was later removed from the highly-anticipated bout due to allegations of domestic violence, which he continues to refute.
And instead of picking someone from Davis’ weight category, Paul decided to level up and challenged Joshua, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 243.4 pounds.
