Jake Paul has had a tough night in Miami after his fight with Anthony Joshua. The YouTuber-turned-boxer suffered a broken jaw in two places and had some teeth removed following his stoppage defeat in their heavyweight clash at the Kaseya Center on Friday. Paul underwent surgery and had two titanium plates fitted to stabilise his jaw.
The fight went six rounds, with Joshua dominating throughout. Paul hit the canvas twice in the fifth and sixth rounds, and the referee finally stopped the contest when Paul could not beat the count. After the fight, Paul said he knew his jaw was “definitely” broken.
Jake Paul provides an update on hus injuries
“Surgery went well thanks for all the love and support. 2 titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed. Have to have only liquids for 7 days,” Paul wrote on Instagram. He also shared an X-ray of his jaw showing the double break along the jawline. “Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days,” he wrote as he shared the report on social media.
Joshua, the two-time world heavyweight champion, showed why he is one of the sport’s top fighters. He dropped Paul twice in the fifth round and ended the fight in the sixth with a right uppercut followed by a head combination. The Briton improved his record to 29-4 with 26 knockouts, while Paul now stands at 12-2.
This was Joshua’s first fight in over a year, following his loss to fellow Briton Daniel Dubois in September last year. With this dominant win, Joshua is expected to turn his attention toward reclaiming the heavyweight title he lost to Oleksandr Usyk a few years back.

View AllJake Paul, on the other hand, will look to make a comeback in four to six weeks as it usually takes this long to recover from broken jaw injuries in boxing. Once he recovers, the 28-year-old may look to return to the cruiserweight category and could also look for a fight with Saul Canelo Alvarez.
