Jake Paul was seen showing off his earnings even after a painful defeat to Anthony Joshua as he left Miami following surgery for a broken jaw. The YouTuber-turned-boxer had to undergo medical treatment after his much-hyped heavyweight fight at the Kaseya Center on Friday ended in defeat.
Paul suffered a serious injury during the bout, breaking his jaw in two places. Reports said that a few of his teeth also had to be removed. He later underwent surgery, during which doctors fitted two titanium plates to stabilise his jaw and help it heal. Paul shared an X-ray of his broken jaw on social media.
The fight itself was one-sided, with Anthony Joshua dominating from the start. The contest lasted six rounds, but Paul struggled to match Joshua’s power and experience. He was knocked down twice, once in the fifth round and again in the sixth. The referee eventually stopped the fight after Paul failed to beat the count, handing Joshua a stoppage win.
Jake Paul flaunts his earnings
Despite the tough loss and injuries, Paul appeared to be in good spirits just two days later. On Sunday, he shared a picture on Instagram while travelling back home from Miami. In the photo, he was seen flaunting his wealth, suggesting that the fight had been financially rewarding for him despite the defeat.
Captioning the image, Paul wrote “The American Dream,” along with a US flag emoji. He also added a motivational message, encouraging others to believe in their dreams and not give up despite failures. His post read: “Start yours today. Believe in it. Fail. Work. Fail. Learn. Fail. Don’t ever stop.”
Paul’s loss to Joshua may have lasted only six rounds, but the money he made from the fight was staggering. Paul reportedly earned around $92 million (Rs 800 crore approx) for just 989 seconds inside the ring, which works out to more than $93,000 per second. That also means he made roughly $5.5 million per minute of fight time and about $15.3 million per round.
