Six things you must know about Anna's fast at Jantar Mantar

1. This is first time that Anna has been joined by the families of whistleblowers. The fast comes in the wake of the killing of IPS officer Narendra Kumar in Madhya Pradesh. Kumar is believed to have been murdered by mining mafia in the state.

2. Unlike on previous occasions when he observed symbolic fasts at Jantar Mantar, no political party has been invited to join Sunday’s protest.

3. This is the fifth time Anna Hazare is observing a fast in the national capital.

4. This is the third occasion that Jantar Mantar has been chosen as a venue for Anna to fast. His maiden fast on the Lokapl issue was also conducted here on 5 April, 2011. The last time Anna conducted a sit-in fast at Jantar Mantar was on 11 December, 2011.

5. This is the eleventh time Anna has held a day long fast. In total, he has sat on fast 27 times (including 10 one-day fasts and 17 long fasts).

6. Anna’s last fast was during the winter session of Parliament, when the Lokpal bill was not passed in the Rajya Sabha.
