IPL Auction 2025 Highlights, DAY 2 LIVE Updates: Day 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction witnessed Indian pacers command major bids, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar going back to Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs 10.75 crore after spending a decade with Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians acquiring Deepak Chahar, who had been with Chennai Super Kings since 2018. The day also witnessed relatively unknown names Priyansh Arya and Vaibhav Suryavanshi become crorepatis. While Delhi batting sensation Priyansh joins PBKS for Rs 3.8 crore, 13-year-old Vaibhav joins RR for Rs 1.1 crore.
It was a record-breaking day in the IPL Auction 2025 live on Day 1 (24 November, Sunday) at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the history of the tournament as he was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. Pant broke the record of his former teammate Shreyas Iyer who was sold for Rs 26.75 crore a few moments ago to Punjab Kings . The most expensive player in IPL Auction history before Day 1 of the 2025 Player Auction was Mitchell Starc who was sold for Rs 24.75 crore to the Kolkata Knight Riders last year.
IPL Auction Day 2: 132 slots to fill by 10 teams
Overall, Rs 467.95 crore was spent by all 10 franchises over 72 players, while 12 players could not find any suitors . 493 players from the complete list of 577 cricketers are still to be presented while 132 slots are to be filled with a remaining budget of Rs 173.55 crore among the 10 teams. Royal Challengers Bengaluru with Rs 30.65 crore has the highest remaining purse among all teams and have 16 slots to fill including five for overseas players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who bought Mohammed Shami and Ishan Kishan on Day 1 of the IPL Auction 2025, have the smallest remaining purse among all teams with just Rs 5.15 in the bank but they still have 12 slots to fill including four players. Apart from RCB, Mumbai Indians have the most number of slots to fill - 16 including seven for the overseas cricketers. MI have a remaining purse of Rs 26.1 crore.
Punjab Kings eye more players with small purse
Punjab Kings who entered the auction with the biggest course of Rs 110.5 crore, only have Rs 22.5 crore left in the bag after buying 10 players on Day 1 including Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, and Glenn Maxwell among others.
Just like Day 1, the IPL Auction 2025 will start at 3.30 PM IST on Day 2 and will take place at the same Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah.
