Well, Marvel got him a standalone movie. But don’t panic just yet! According to IMDb , Ryan Reynolds who will be reprising the his role as Deadpool, has “confirmed that this Deadpool will have no connection to the Deadpool seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.  And judging by the trailer, we are inclined to agree.

The trailer for Deadpool which is set for a 2016 release, went online on Wednesday, following the previous day’s  teaser .

This latest Marvel superhero movie stars Reynolds as Deadpool, a superhero with accelerated healing powers, acquired after an experiment. Yes, just like Wolverine. But instead of adamantium claws, Deadpool flaunts a couple of swords and is a martial artist with a crude sense of humour.

The film also features Morena Baccarin of Homeland fame as Vanessa Carlysle or Copycat (with the ability to shape-shift), Brianna Hildebrand as Ellie Phimister or Negasonic Teenage Warhead (with powers of telepathy and precognition), Andre Tricoteux as Piotr Rasputin or Colossus (with the ability to transform his body into steel; a veteran of the Marvel cinematic universe), Gina Carano as Angel Dust, T.J. Miller as Weasel, and Ed Skrein as Ajax.

The official movie synopsis reads:

“Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”

Deadpool will be director Tim Miller’s first feature-length film.

The trailer is extremely NSFW and high on humour. Proceed with caution.
