'Channa Mereya' from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: Ranbir Kapoor makes you feel the pain of unrequited love

After Bulleya and the title track, Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has now released its third track Channa Mereya. The beautiful number sums up the theme of the film of 'ek-tarfa pyaar'.

Channa Mereya from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Ranbir Kapoor makes you feel the pain of unrequited love

A still from the song.

Composed by Pritam, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya the song only focuses on the Ranbir-Anushka love story.

The song portrays Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) singing for Alizeh's (Anushka Sharma) wedding and in flashbacks reveals some happy moments spent by them.

Though a heartbreak song, the grief is not in your face. Instead it is hidden deep inside Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor), only to notice it in the little moments.

While the happy flashback moments give you a sense of the loss, it fully hits you only at the end of the song when he says, "Ek tarfa pyaar ki taakat hi kuch aur hoti hai, auro ki rishton ki tarha ye do logo me nahi batthi, sirf mera haq hai ispe."

The powerful vocals of Arijit Singh brings out the right mix of the celebratory wedding song and the grief-filled heartbroken rendition.

While the description of the song on YouTube calls it the 'soul of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil music album', director Karan Johar revealed in a tweet that this is his favourite song.

While Anushka looks royal dressed for her wedding, Ranbir Kapoor steals the show here looking resplendent in a Sabyasachi designed golden sherwani and black pagdi complete hands adorned by mehandi.
