Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil collided with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay in an ugly box office battle on last Diwali. They seem to peacefully co-exist this time.

The trailer of Abhay Chopra’s thriller Ittefaq will be attached with Rohit Shetty’s comedy ensemble Golmaal Again when it releases this Diwali on 20 October.

What makes this association interesting is the fact that Ittefaq is co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Golmaal Again stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role. The two celebrities were at loggerheads at the exact same time last year when Johar’s romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clahed with Devgn’s action thriller Shivaay at the box office on Diwali.

Their box office battle assumed an ugly form when Devgn accused Johar of bribing the self-proclaimed film critic Kamal Rashid Khan (KRK) to push out negative content against Shivaay. Devgn’s wife and Johar’s longtime collaborator Kajol also got involved when she openly supported Devgn in his claims.

Johar went on record to even write a detailed account of how he is no longer friends with the actress, in his memoir An Unsuitable Boy that was launched earlier this year.

But now, there seems to be peaceful coexistence as the trailer of Johar’s film will be attached to Devgn’s Diwali release.

Golmaal Again also stars Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Tabu, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Prakash Raj, It is co-produced by Shetty and Mangl Murti Films.

Ittefaq stars Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna. It will mark the directorial debut of Abhay and is a remake of his late father BR Chopra’s 1969 film. It is co-produced by Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It is slated to release on 3 November, along with Rakhee Sandilya’s romantic comedy Ribbon.
