Ittefaq trailer: Sidharth, Sonakshi and Akshaye Khanna on a thrilling chase to uncover the truth

The trailer of Ittefaq wastes no time trying to set up or build up its plot. As soon as you hit play, you’re sucked into a dark, sinister world and Sidharth Malhotra’s voice takes you further in. “Uss raat accident mein mujhe kaafi chot lagi thi” — coupled with a Hitchock-esque background score, makes for an interesting introduction to Ittefaq. [caption id=“attachment_4111805” align=“alignnone” width=“825”]  Akshaye Khanna, Sonakshi Sinha and Sidharth Malhotra in stills from the trailer.[/caption] We then see a wounded Sidharth approach Sonakshi Sinha (who plays Maya) in a dimly lit building, explaining that his car has broken down and he needs help. She is hesitant at first, but allows him one phone call. But, as most thriller films go, what happens next will shock you. We find out that Sidharth, who plays Vikram Sethi, is framed for a double-murder — first of his wife Katherine Sethi and second, of a lawyer called Shikhar Sinha. Here enters Akshaye Khanna, in somewhat a reprise of his role in Mom. With his typical, cop-like heavy moustache and a grim expression, he questions a confused Vikram about the murders, while the latter claims innocence on both counts. However, when Maya is questioned by the police, she has a different (more complex) version of events that happened the night Vikram knocked on her door. She is also a suspect in the case. This murder case now has two different versions of events, and two suspects, but one truth. What happened that night? What happened to Vikram and Maya? And will the police be able to uncover the infamous truth? These are the questions that make up the plot of Dharma Productions’ Ittefaq, directed by Abhay Chopra. Ittefaq is the directorial debut of Abhay and a remake of his father late filmmaker BR Chopra’s 1969 film of the same name. The original film starred Rajesh Khanna, Nanda and Iftekhar whose shoes will now be filled by Sidharth, Sonakshi and Akshaye respectively. Ittefaq is co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It is slated to release on 3 November, along with Rakhee Sandilya’s romantic comedy Ribbon.
