So much of the speculation around Game of Thrones Season 6 has been based on Jon Snow, that we know (almost) nothing about the other characters.
While Jon Snow’s survival is still under debate, we know for a fact that his half-brother, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), is definitely alive and will be returning in the next season, as seen in the Game of Thrones first look shared by Entertainment Weekly . Bran’s return will come after spending a year (the entire Season five) off the show.
The photographs give us our first look at Ned Stark’s youngest son, And boy, has Bran grown in the season he spent away from the show! Hempstead-Wright is 16-years-old now and looks nothing like the young boy who started playing the handicapped Stark when the show started in 2011. With shorter hair and a lean face, it seems like the Bran of old has matured into one more player for the game of thrones
Just to recap, we last saw Bran at the end of Season 4, where he was accompanied by companions Hodor, Jojen and Meera Reed as he finally met the mysterious Three-Eyed Raven (to be now played by Max von Sydow.) Season-four Bran was revealed to be a ‘Warg’, which gives him the ability to enter the minds of animals and humans, and have visions. Bran sought to control his fledgling psychic powers with the help of the Three-Eyed Raven.
Meanwhile, as far as the action in Westeros is concerned, Bran is believed to be dead by everyone. But these new images and the teaser, which also featured old footage of Bran ‘warging’, he might have a crucial part to play.
In the teaser Bran said, “They have no idea what’s going to happen.”
Clearly, he is right. But while we have no idea what to expected, we very much look forward to the next season.
Meanwhile, enjoy the first look
