There are too many things that happened in the Game of Thrones season 5 finale. Too many. To talk about all of them and let it all sink in will take much time.
The much loved and watched TV show is like a brutal, murderous, annual raid, and the viewers are pretty much fair game. Every year they come, they behead, they maim, gouge out eyeballs, stab and burn their way through us.
And yet, when the season is done and gone, we can’t help but wait for it to be back again the following year and inflict all that pain once more.
Spoiler alert!
The season 5 finale was like ‘The Bride’, armed with blades and dragons, out to ‘kill Bill’ and everyone else, brought to you by yours truly George RR Martin. Here is the kill-list:
-John Snow, in an et tu brute fashion_,_ stabbed by his crows in arms. Brutus, in this case, was a little kid.
-Stannis Baratheon, aspiring king and practising psychopath, done by the mighty Brienne.
-And his wife, Selyse, who finally realised she loved her daughter and hangs herself in shame.
-Ser Meryn Trant, not the friendliest of knights in all of seven kingdoms, is struck of arya’s hit list by arya herself.
-Myranda, one of Ramsay’s former “love interests”, done in by Reek, or is he back being Theon Greyjoy now?
-Princess Myrcella, lovechild to Cersei and Jamie, on her way back to King’s Landing, gets a delayed death from Ellaria’s deadly kiss, a la Joker (from the comic books, not the nolan films).
The survivors
-The little man amongst littler men, the wise and brilliant Tyrion. He is the true star of the show, the one we all root for, so expect him to die in sometime.
-Daenerys, the mother of dragons, still alive and kicking. though the same cannot be said about her dragon.
-Ser Jorah and Daario, the two men in love with the same woman. They will definitely make a good team.
-And ring the bells, Lord Varys is back, with his little whispering birds.
-Many other jaw dropping things transpire in the finale. Yes it is brutal, murderous, bloody, shocking and awesome. And Twitter is raging about it, as always.
