Japanese car maker Toyota has just announced a facelift version of its affordable sedan, Etios. The new Etios Platinum comes at a starting price of Rs 6.43 lakh (ex showroom, Mumbai) and is said to be based on a similar model that was launched in Brazil earlier this year.
The new Etios Platinum comes with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine and 1.4-litre D-4D diesel engine that the current generation has. The 1.5-litre petrol variant can produce a peak power of 90 bhp and peak torque of 132 Nm, while the 1.4-litre diesel engine can produce 68 bhp and maximum torque of 170 Nm. In terms of fuel efficiency, the car provides 16.78 kmpl for the petrol variant and the diesel version gives a mileage of 23.59 kmpl.
The major changes include design updates which includes a new V-shaped front grille, redesigned front bumper with wider air-vents and round fog lamps. The side of get chrome finished ORVM with integrated turn indicators and 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. There is also a boot-lid integrated rear spoiler and a new bumper design. The wheelbase of the new Etios Platinum is 2550 mm, and is 4265 mm in length, 1695 mm in width and 1510 mm in height.
In terms of features Toyota has added dual airbags and ABS as standard across all variants. There will be an engine immobilizer and keyless entry as well.
