When it comes to luxurious cars, Rolls-Royce is at the pinnacle. It’s latest car is its most expensive offering and is a one-off, Meet the new Rolls-Royce Sweptail, priced at $12.8 million or Rs 84 crores.
Unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este just two days back, the new Sweptail is not just any product but has a story of its own. Apparently there was a certain customer who found the list of customisation options offered by the company not as appealing. Thus the client asked the luxury car maker to build a one-off model using his suggestions.
According to Rolls-Royce , the client of the super expensive Sweptail is a ‘connoisseur and collector of distinctive, one-off items including super-yachts and private aircraft’ which doesn’t come as a surprise. The client had requested the Sweptail to be influenced from the coach-built two-seater Rolls-Royce cars from the 1920s and 1930s. Of course it took the company almost four years to bring the Sweptail to life.

The Sweptail takes inspiration from a variety of cars including the 1925 Phantom I Round Door, the 1934 Phantom II Streamline Saloon, the 1934 Gurney Nutting Phantom II Two Door Light Saloon and the Park Ward 20/25 Limousine Coupe.

The exclusive luxury car gets one of the largest solid aluminium front grille, which is inspired from the Pantheon that is hand polished to get a mirror like finish.

Rolls Royce Motor Cars CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos said, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said, “Sweptail is a truly magnificent car. It exudes the romance of travel for its own sake, and immediately places ‘Sweptail’ in the pantheon of the world’s great intercontinental tourers.”
There is a yacht inspired panoramic roof and inside there is ample use of polished Macassar Ebony and open-pore Paldao. There is also Moccasin and Dark Spice leathers on the seats, armrests and dashboard. The elegant Rolls-Royce clock is handmade with the thinnest Macassar veneer and titanium hands. Other features include panniers that match the car and special a full set of bespoke luggage for the Sweptail.
