Rolls-Royce Motors has unveiled a one off vehicle, that’s lighter and smaller than any car the marque has produced in the past. It’s called the Rolls-Royce SRH and it’s electric.

Well yes, because Rolls-Royce has unveiled is a kid’s size version of its bigger, luxurious behemoths and it even comes with its own Spirit of Ecstasy bonnet ornament!

This child-size car has been designed and crafted for one special customer and that happens to be the children at St Richard’s Hospital Pediatric Day Surgery Unit. And that is where it gets its model name as well.

The brightly coloured car has a purpose, and this is to lighten up the minds and reduce child patient stress. This is because the car has been built to entertain children awaiting surgery.

The children will be allowed to drive the car themselves all the way to the operating theatre through the Pediatric Unit corridors, which are lined with ‘traffic signs’.

“We are a proud member of the community here in West Sussex. The Pediatric Unit at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester does such vital work in providing essential care to young people and their families,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “We hope that the Rolls‑Royce SRH will serve to make the experience for young people during treatment a little less stressful.”

The car was eventually handed over to the patients, and the team at St Richard’s Hospital.

At the unveiling, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars welcomed two test drivers from the Pediatric Unit at St Richard’s Hospital, Molly Matthews and Hari Rajyaguru, to the Home of Rolls-Royce. Both children were given the same Rolls-Royce VIP treatment given to its usual customers.

Kid-sized cars derived from their bigger real-world counterparts are a common thing these days ( McLaren did something similar). But the SRH is a one off. Only one has been produced and that too by the Bespoke Manufacturing team. It also indicates how well Rolls-Royce understand’s its customers’ requirements.

The Rolls-Royce SRH comes with a two-tone steering wheel and seats that have gotten the same amount of detail like its bigger cars. The top speed is 10mph and the car is powered by a 24 volt gel battery, which propels the car without any noise. There’s a speed setting that limits the speed to 4mph for those who prefer something less thrilling.

Oh yes. If you were wondering, it took the Bespoke Manufacturing team over 400 hours of their own time to develop and hand-craft this special Rolls-Royce.
