That’s it from us. Thank you for following. We will be back covering Live action from the game between RCb and SRH tomorrow
The kids leaving the stadium are still upset about the wide call in the last over. Their father Calms them down saying ‘Beta ho gaya, jaane do."
Ben Stokes is adjudged the Man of the Match
To beat the most balanced team in the competition, RPS had to find the right combination, That was provided by the inclusion of Washington Sundar, who could has bowled in the power plays, allowing Smith flexibility in the death overs. Jaydev Unadkat and Ben Stokes bowled critical last overs, to help RPS get over the line.
Rohit Sharma: We are disappointed to lose the match, but we have been playing some good cricket, so I don’t want to be too critical about the performance. Our bowlers did a good job to restrict RPS to a score of 160. We leave the game here and we have to move on
Drama in the last over as Rohit Sharma skies one off Unadkat and the bowler somehow held on. But in the end the chase proved to be too much for Mumbai. Pune have now got the better of MI twice when the other teams have found it hard against Rohit’s team. A big feat that.
Harbhajan kicks the dust after hitting a six off a final ball. Another thriller at the Wankhede. RPS held their nerve. It was tough out there on a slowish wicket. Rohit tried his best with a fifty but MI kept losing wickets at regular intervals. with 24 needed Off 12, Stokes bowled a brilliant penultimate over giving away just 7 and that was the turning point of the game. MI’s winning streak ends.
We fell short by a few inches, but our boys gave it our all. A close game in the end!#MIvRPS #CricketMeriJaan #MI pic.twitter.com/hrOsOMS3TY

THAT’S IT! All over! Rising Puner Supergiant beat Mumbai Indians by 3 runs
What a last over from Jaydev Unadkat who took two big wickets in the final over. But the real hero was Ben Stokes who conceded just 19 runs off his four overs and took two wickets. RPS notch up their third win on the spin, while Mumbai Indians’ six-game winning run comes to an end. Steve Smith and co do the double over MI and spoil Sachin Tendulkar’s birthday bash. It was not the biggest score to defend but RPS did a great job in the end
It was a tight game, right till the end! It took some bowling from RPS to keep us from getting there.#MIvRPS #CricketMeriJaan #MI

The crowd can’t believe it when the replay of wide is shown on the big screen. It was way outside the wise guideline. The drama takes another step as Rohit is caught and bowled the next ball. 11 needed Off 2. Harbhajan on strike.
OUT! Mitchell McClenaghan is run out! MI need 10 runs off 1 ball
OUT! Rohit Sharma c&b Jaydev Unadkat. MI need 11 runs off 2 balls
DOT BALL! MI need 11 runs off 3 balls
Boooos ring around as the umpire doesn’t signal a wide. An agitated Rohit is having a long conversation with the umpire.
SIX! Rohit Sharma heaves it over mid-wicket for big six. MI need 11 runs off 4 balls
OUT! Hardik Pandya 13 (11) b Unadkat c Stokes MI need 17 runs off 5 balls
Hardik hits it hard but straight to Stokes who takes a good catch
This is Pune’s match to lose now. A fine half century by Rohit Sharma had taken MI within touching distance. Pune one felt got much less than they would have wanted but fought back well. Would MI finally lose at Wankhede?
“Superb over” shouts a fan as Stokes concedes just 7 runs off the penultimate over. This could be the most crucial moment in the game. He might have won it for RPS in that over. He gets a rousing reception at the deep extra cover fence
After 19 overs,Mumbai Indians 144/5 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 52 , Hardik Pandya 13) MI need 17 runs off 6 balls
Ben Stokes comes in to bowl the penultimate over. The first one is a slower one which goes for a single. The Englishman then bowls a wide under pressure. Pandya then picks up a single off the third delivery before Sharma’s drilled cover drive only manages to find the cover fielder. MI struggle to put the RPS bowler away thanks to his variations and accurate Yorkers. Just seven runs come off it
Good news is that Ben Stokes is bowling the 19th over, and not the 20th.#MIvRPS #IPL2017 #IPL10

Most 50-plus scores while chasing in IPL:
19 – David Warner
18 – Gautam Gambhir
12 – Ajinkya Rahane, ROHIT SHARMA*
11 – Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle
After 18 overs,Mumbai Indians 137/5 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 50 , Hardik Pandya 10) MI need 24 runs off 12 balls
Jaydev Unadkat into the attack. Hardik gives the strike to Rohit off the very first ball. The Mi skipper cuts but it goes straight to the fielder for a dot ball. Unadkat who seemed under pressure bowls a wide trying to find the wide worker. Sharma completes his fifty with a single before Hardik Pandya eases some pressure with a cracking shot for a boundary on the off side. Pandya follows it up another boundary on the leg side after he picks up the slower one early. Unadkat ends with a dot but it’s a good over for MI

FIFTY! Rohit Sharma 50* (33)
Tahir gets a huge wicket. Pollard walks back. Insecurity has started creeping inside the stands. The fans have gone a bit quiet.
After 17 overs,Mumbai Indians 126/5 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 49 , Hardik Pandya 2) MI need 35 runs off 18 balls
Imran Tahir into his last over and he strikes on the first ball. Pollard runs out of patience as skies the ball. Steve Smith takes a good catch. Rohit Sharma doesn’t try to take many risks and is happy to rotate the strike. Brilliant over for RPS and at a very good time as well. Just four off it
OUT! Kieron Pollard 9 (9) b Imran Tahir c Steve Smith
Pollard skies a Tahir deliver. Steve Smith has to runs quite a distance from long off to take the catch
The match is tantalisingly poised, the tension is palpable inside the stadium. Rohit has upped the ante now and looking ominous with two sixes and a four. But there is huge expectation from Pollard here in the stands.
After 16 overs,Mumbai Indians 122/4 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 47 , Kieron Pollard 9) MI need 39 runs off 24 balls
Shardul Thakur into the attack and a shorter delivery is put away into the crowd by Rohit Sharma. MI have paced this chase brilliantly so far and have punished every bad ball. They have ensured they keep rotating the strike when the good balls came in. 9 runs come off the Thakur over
Rohit Sharma ensuring the second name on the Champions Trophy squad will be his name.

After 15 overs,Mumbai Indians 113/4 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 40 , Kieron Pollard 7) MI need 48 off 30 balls
Ben Stokes into his third over. Starts off with a loosener but Rohit Sharma fails to find the gap. The skipper then hands the strike to Pollard who returns the favour. Rohit Sharma then picks up the slower one from Stokes to drill it to the cover boundary. MI get the one boundary they need every over and stay on track. MI need 48 off 30 balls
A steady start, but with the team batting second traditional having an advantage, RPS will need more than steady. There is a school of thought that argues that slow and steady starters are actually detrimental to the nature of T20 cricket, although I think pacing an innings does have it’s place yet.
Lots of batting to come. How much time will they get?
After 14 overs,Mumbai Indians 105/4 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 34 , Kieron Pollard 6) MI need 56 from 36 balls
Imran Tahir bowls a vicious leg spinning delivery to start with that just beats Rohit Sharma’s outside edge. Rohit Sharma then goes for a big shot on the leg side and finds Rahane who drops the MI captain, allowing the ball to go for a boundary. Sharma makes Rahane regret by smashing Tahir for a big six on the next ball. Eleven runs off the over for MI
Karn Sharma drags one back to his stumps. Ben Stokes proving his worth with the ball. Pune have their neighbours in some amount of trouble. Pollard comes out at the fall of that wicket to a rousing reception from the Wankhede crowd.
Finally some action in a cluster. Rohit scoops for four, Karn gets dropped, then hits a six but then walks back to the hut. Pollard gets a rousing reception and amidst defeaning Chants of Pollard…Pollard he thumps one over mid wicket for four to open his boundary account. He then survives a run out chance as the fielder misses a direct hit. There is went support for RPS in the stands.
After 13 overs,Mumbai Indians 94/4 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 23 , Kieron Pollard 6) MI need 67 runs off 42 balls
Ben Stokes whose first over was a wicket maiden comes back and strikes straight away. Karn Sharma inside-edges one onto his stumps. Kieron Pollard comes to the middle and punishes a short delivery from Stokes. He puts it away to the mid-wicket boundary. That’s followed by some misunderstanding between Pollard and Sharma ho eventually decide to go for a risky run. RPS fail to hit the stumps and Sharma survives.
Get the junkies in, Stokes. What a day to have him aa your bowling captain!
— Alagappan Vijayakumar (@IndianMourinho) April 24, 2017
OUT! Karn Sharma 11 (10) v Ben Stokes
Karn Sharma drags onto his stumps trying to pull a Stokes delivery
Remember how Imran Tahir removed Rohit Sharma in the 1st game these two teams played this year? That’s probably why he has been held back, and immediately getting some big turn.
Till then, 17 year old Washington Sundar held the fort well, picking up Parthiv Patel with the last ball of his spell. That’s twice now that he has bowled some quiet overs in the first half of the innings. Gives Smith more options at the back end.
After 12 overs,Mumbai Indians 86/3 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 21 , Karn Sharma 11) MI need 75 runs off 58 deliveries
Imran Tahir continues and should have got a wicket when Karn Sharma hit it straight Manoj Tiwary who put it down. On the next ball, Karn Sharma adds salt to the wounds by smashing Tahir over ling on for a six. MI batsmen rotate strike to keep required run rate in check
DROPPED! Manoj Tiwary drops Karn Sharma at cover.
After 11 overs,Mumbai Indians 77/3 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 19 , Karn Sharma 4) MI need 94 runs off 54 balls
Jaydev Unadkat into the attack as Smith shuffles his bowlers. Karn Sharma the new man in picks up a couple off the first ball before the two batsmen exchange strike with singles. Rohit Sharma feels the need for runs and executes the Dil Scoop to perfection, to make it 8 runs off that over
After 10 overs,Mumbai Indians 68/3 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 14 , Karn Sharma 0)
Imran Tahir is into the attack. His first delivery turns quite a bit but Rohit Sharma plays it late and pushes it to the third man boundary. He then flicks it n the air on the on side and finds the gap between mid-wicket and long on. Eight runs off that Tahir over
Parthiv had slowed down a bit and the pressure got to him. Interesting that Karn Sharma has been promoted. Given that Tahir is bowling it could be a good move. Rohit has provided some momentum with a couple of couple of fours and then boos ring around as Tahir’s vociferous LBW appeal is turned down by the umpire.
Rohit Sharma against leg-spinners in this IPL:
Runs – 4
Balls – 11
Average – 1.00
Dismissals – 4
SR – 36.36
After 9 overs,Mumbai Indians 60/3 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 6 , )
Washington Sundar continues. MI milk him for singles in the opening deliveries, but Parthiv Patel perishes trying to cut him. The delivery is in line and quick and Parthiv misses. Good spell from Washington
OUT! Parthiv Patel 33 (27) b Washington Sundar
Patel tries to cut and misses. Sundar gets his first IPL wicket
Parthiv seems to be a bit bogged down. RPS bowlers are hitting the right lengths and they have managed a stranglehold on the batsmen. One of the MI batsmen need to break the shackles now else the pressure will keep increasing.
After 8 overs,Mumbai Indians 56/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 31 , Rohit Sharma (C) 4)
Dan Christian comes into the attack and straightaway gives RPS a breakthrough. Rana fails to control his pull shot and it goes up in the air. Jaydev Unadkat takes a good catch at third man to dismiss the in-form MI batsman. Rohit Sharma walks out in the middle. He uses a few balls to get set and Rohit Sharma smashes Christian over mid-on for a boundary
Rohit in. Guess RPS will now unleash Imran Tahir on him #MIvRPS
— Arun Venugopal (@scarletrun) April 24, 2017
OUT! Nitish Rana 7 (9) b Christian c Unadkat
Rana top edges Dan Christian’s short ball and Jaydev Unadkat takes a very good catch at third man
After 7 overs,Mumbai Indians 50/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 29 , Nitish Rana 3)
Washington Sundar comes back into the attack after the fielding restrictions are off. The youngster bowls a tidy over as the MI batsmen don’t seem to take any risks.
After 6 overs,Mumbai Indians 44/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 25 , Nitish Rana 1)
Shardul Thakur is back into the attack and Patel picked up a couple off the first ball. Thakur followed it up with a wide. The RPS pacer then bowled a real loose one short and down the leg side which Patel put away for four runs. MI play it sensible after the boundary and get two more runs off that over. Decent PowerPlay for MI
First wicket goes down for Mumbai. Pune needed to break the Buttler-Parthiv partnership as it could have taken the game away from Pune in a hurry.

All of a sudden, the crowd started chanting Sachin….Sachin…. but within minutes the mood changes as Buttler departs. This is a crucial breakthrough for RPS , Buttler was in good touch in last couple of games and can be devastating. Man in form Nitish Rana arrives.
After 5 overs,Mumbai Indians 35/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 18 , Nitish Rana 0)
Wicket Maiden! Ben Stokes came into the attack and he started off with a slower delivery that was played to the cover fielder by Buttler. On the second ball, Buttler tried to free his arm but didn’t make good enough connection. He was holed out at long on. Nitish Rana came into the middle and is almost dismissed as the outside edge drops just drop of the slip fielder. Big over for RPS.
OUT! Jos Buttler 17 (13) b Ben Stokes c Washington
Buttler persihes trying to clear long on
The MI openers have shown an aggressive intent right from the word ho. Five boundaries in first three overs. RPS bowlers haven’t got their lengths right and just like MI pacers early on, they have been too short. Getting the lengths right on this track a very crucial.
After 4 overs,Mumbai Indians 35/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 18 , Jos Buttler 17)
Jaydev Unadkat comes into the attack. The bowler does pretty well not to concede a boundary in the first three deliveries, but is unlucky as the ball flies off the Buttler’s outside edge for a boundary. Despite the misfortune Unadkat bounces back well giving away just one run off the last two balls.

After 3 overs,Mumbai Indians 27/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 16 , Jos Buttler 11)
Washington Sundar continues and perhaps it wasn’t the best decision from Steve Smith. The youngster bowls it too short as Parthiv Patel puts him away firstly over mid-wicket, before cutting him through point. Patel smashes another short delivery on the leg side and Mumbai make it a really good start
After 2 overs,Mumbai Indians 14/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 3 , Jos Buttler 11)
Shardul Thakur with the second over of the innings. Parthiv Patel drives on the offside but is well fielded by Smith. After just one run off the first three deliveries, Buttler gets on the act and smashes Shardul on the offside for a boundary. The RPS bowlers then strays in line as Buttler flicks to the fine-leg boundary. It runs out to be a good over for MI as 11 runs come off it

After 1 overs,Mumbai Indians 3/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 2 , Jos Buttler 1)
Parthiv Patel and Jos Buttler open the innings for Mumbai Indians. RPS starts with young spinner Washington Sundar who does well to not give any loose deliveries to the MI batsmen who score just three runs off it
Tripathi and Tiwary practicing high catches. Tahir is getting it to turn big on the practice wicket.
An ordinary score by Pune in the end. The ball looked to be gripping off the surface and shot-making was not entirely easy. Pune got a steady start but lacked the final push. Mumbai would fancy themselves in this one.

Words of wisdom: @harbhajan_singh#MIvRPS #CricketMeriJaan #MI
Wonder how Manoj Tiwary must be feeling about batting below Stokes and Dhoni. His IPL scores so far are 40*, 31, 27, and 17*. Here too he has started briskly, and fortunately.
This may not be a 180 wicket, and there is no sign of dew either. lots of scuff marks on the pitch, which says it is a bit on the dry side, Losing the toss and batting second may not be such a bad thing for Smith.
A pretty good bowling performance from MI. Harbhajan was accurate and choked the scoring in the middle overs along with Bumrah. The track was on the slower side and the RPS batsmen had to earn their runs. The pitch might slower in the second half and it would be interesting to see whether dew plays a role. So far, it not been that humid. The super-soppers and ropes are out to minimise the effect of dew. The RPS spinners will play a crucial role here, especially Tahir. They will need to bowl a bit slower in the air. Ben Stokes is already out practicing on the nearby wicket.
A stable base does not always make a tall building it seems. RPS make a score that is just about par on this ground, but they are still in the game, with the wicket not being straightforward to bat on. Balls dug into the pitch could be the way to go. Imran Tahir will be a factor, as well as Shardul Thakur’s (plays for Mumbai in Ranji) variations.
Top effort from our bowlers. Over to the batsmen now to finish the job.#CricketMeriJaan #MIvRPS #MI pic.twitter.com/HZw4PPXhim

Rising Pune Supergiant have lost nine matches while batting first in IPL. They have won only one match while batting first in IPL. They won against Royal Challengers Bangalore this season at Bangalore while batting first.
After 20 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 160/6 ( Daniel Christian 8 , Washington Sundar 2)
Jasprit Bumrah comes in to bowl the last over. Bowls a short one to start with and Tiwary gives the ball it’s due treatment and smashes it for a boundary at mid-wicket. Bumrah then attempts a yorker and misses. Tiwary puts the full toss in the same area of the field with similar effect. Bumrah responds well with a wide Yorker. The young Indian pacer then goes back to a slower delivery and traps Tiwary LBW. Washington Sundar who walks out two more runs off the last two deliveries to take the RPS total to 160 at the end of 20 overs
OUT! Manoj Tiwary 22 LWB Jasprit Bumrah
Tiwary fails to read the slower delivery and is trapped plump in front
The Wankhede crowd, surprisingly, hasn’t been chirpy. Either they are celebrating or quiet. Quite uncharacteristic.
After 19 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 150/5 ( Manoj Tiwary 14 , Daniel Christian 8)
Mitchell McClenaghan in to bowl the penultimate over, The NZ pacer makes a good start bowling round the wicket, but opts to change to over the wicket for the final three deliveries. Manoj Tiwary gets a much-needed boundary through the covers that takes RPS’ score to 150. 8 runs off the 19th over

Jasprit Bumrah bowls a gem of an over. After giving just one off the two balls, he gets Dhoni after the RPS batsman drags it onto his stumps. He then beats the batsman with a slower delivery to give just four runs off the over
Mixed emotions inside the Wankhede as Bumrah cleans up Dhoni. You could sense the frustration with runs not flowing and Dhoni succumbed to that pressure. MI bowlers have done really well to choke the RPS batsmen. Onus on Manoj Tiwary to provide a very finish. He has been in good form so far in the tournament.
No Dhoni heroics tonite. Big wicket for Mumbai at this stage. Could restrict Pune to under 165

After 17 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 137/4 ( MS Dhoni (W) 7 , Manoj Tiwary 11)
Mitchell Johnson continues this time from round the wicket and cleans up Ben Stokes. Gives no room the English all-rounder as he misses the ball completely. Manoj Tiwary who walks out almost finds the fielder as he plays a lofted cover drive that goes to the boundary. Johnson gets his wrong line on the third ball and Tiwary gets his second boundary, this time on the leg side. Eleven runs off the over, but a big wicket too
Rahul Tripathi’s first five innings in IPL: 10, 33, 31, 59, 45.
What a game changer for Pune. Add to that a return to form for MS Dhoni, and Ben Stokes who is dues for a big score. Then there is Smith, and Tiwary who has been solid, and RPS suddenly looking a gun batting side.
Bowling has been an issue for them, but it’s slowly getting better.
Johnson has a crucial wicket. Just when it seemed Stokes would open up, he is sent back to the hut. RPS desperatrly need momentum and with Tiwary, there is a new man at the crease.

OUT! Ben Stokes 17 (12) b Mitchell Johnson
Ben Stokes misses and Johnson hits
After 16 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 126/3 ( MS Dhoni (W) 7 , Ben Stokes 17)
Mitchell McClenaghan makes a brilliant start to the over with just one run off the first four balls. Tight bowling throughout from the New Zealand all-rounder. Ben Stokes brings all his skill to play a cheeky shot for a boundary on the fifth ball before keeping the strike by taking a single off the last ball. MI keeping it very tight after the PowerPlay
Things had gone a bit quiet unless Stokes forced things with a four wide of short fine leg. The crowd seems to be saving energy amidst high humidity. Four overs to go, Dhoni and Stokes might go bonkers anytime soon.
Only @msdhoni can get such a rousing reception playing against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai...
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) April 24, 2017
That’s a huge wicket for Mumbai as Steve Smith is out. The ball it seems is not coming on to the bat easily and the batsmen are finding it hard to time.
After 15 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 120/3 ( MS Dhoni (W) 6 , Ben Stokes 12)
Jasprit Bumrah back into the attack for MI after both spinners are bowled out. Dhoni and Stokes play him well with soft hands with three two’s in the over. No dot balls in the over as RPS take nine runs without much risk
MS will now look to bat out now, could have sent Manoj to keep going? Stokes too will take his time here.
— Nikhil 🏏 (@CricCrazyNIKS) April 24, 2017
After 14 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 111/3 ( MS Dhoni (W) 4 , Ben Stokes 5)
Mitchell Johnson comes back into the attack. Meanhwile Ben Stokes has arrived at the crease. Johnson starts off with two dot balls, before Dhoni pinches a single. The Australian then strays in line and Stokes flicks him for a boundary. The over ends with a couple of single as Dhoni retains strike
Harbhajan is all pumped up as he cleans up Smith. Clear signs that the pitch is slow. The ball stopped on Rahane during his dismissal and then here Smith was early into his pull only missing it completely. Rohit had said that Wankhede track will get slow as the tournament progresses.
After 13 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 104/3 ( MS Dhoni (W) 2 , )
Harbhajan finishes off a brilliant spell. Just four runs off his over but more importantly a massive wicket of Steve Smith off the last ball of his spell. Smith who was under pressure to get the score board ticking perishes. He fails to pick up the change in pace and has his off stump clipped
Did you know?
Harbhajan Singh becomes the third Indian player to take 200 wickets in T20 cricket after Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin.
OUT! Steve Smith 17 (12) b Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan deceives the Australian skipper in pace as he misses the delivery completely. Ball hits the off stump
Steve Smith takes a single and suddenly there is a huge roar…….. yes……..because Dhoni comes on strike for the first time.
After 12 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 100/2 ( Steven Smith (C) 15 , MS Dhoni (W) 0)
Smith dances down the track and slaps Karn Sharma down the field for a boundary off the very first delivery. The Australian skipper then takes a single to give Tripathi the strike who perishes trying to accelerate. MS Dhoni walks out having been promoted up the order. Later, Smith gets lucky as Harbhajan drops him at square leg. The Australian adds insult to injury as he smashes Karn Sharma for a boundary at mid-wicket. It all happened there. Good spell for Karn Sharma comes to an end
A huge roar echoes inside the stadium as Dhoni walks out to bat. Dhoni….Dhoni the chants go but it all turns silent in minutes as Harbhajan drops Steve Smith and he rubs salt with a four off next ball. what a change of emotions in matter of minutes.

OUT! Rahul Tripathi 45 (31) c Pollard b Karn Sharma
Tripathi holes out at long off trying to force the issue a bit. His miscued shot finds Pollard who is a very safe fielder
After 11 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 88/1 ( Rahul Tripathi 45 , Steven Smith (C) 3)
Harbjhajan into his third over and he almost gets Smith with a off-spinning delivery that grips a bit. Smiath completely misses it as it goes all the way to Parthiv Patel. Once again the experienced bowler gives nothing for the batsmen and just four runs come off it.
Been a while since Rahane played sizeable knock. Looked to be his nite, but wasnt. BTW, he's clean shaven as is Rohit.Beards seem to be out!
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) April 24, 2017
The crowd comes to life as Karn draws first blood. It was all a one way traffic up till now. The ball seemed to stop on Rahane who checked his shot in the end. There was another anxious moment for RPS as Tripathi’s slog sweep flew just over the leaping fielder at deep mid wicket for a six. Tripathi will in all probability don the aggressor’s role now.
After 10 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 84/1 ( Rahul Tripathi 43 , Steven Smith (C) 1)
Karn Sharma bowls his third over. Good turn off the first two deliveries but plenty of top spin on the third delivery that was fired nice and straight gets the wicket of Rahane who top edges it straight to the bowler. Smith walks in the middle and takes a single. Tripathi remains unaffected by the wicket and smashes Karn Sharma over fine leg. Happening over
Matthew Hayden said at the start of the game that the wicket, which was also used in the last game here, looked a little tired. On such surfaces, spinners generally have a say, and it is spin that has taken the first wicket. Still, a base has been set. Whether Smith and co will be able to strike the ball cleanly from the word go will tell us more about the wicket
Top spin does Rahane in. Sharma cramped Rahane for room as the Indian vice-captain edged it straight to the bowler
OUT! Karn Sharma is the man who gets us the first breakthrough. He cramped Rahane.#MIvRPS #CricketMeriJaan #MI pic.twitter.com/VL8cRijXQJ

OUT! Ajainkya Rahane 38 (32) c&b Karn Shamra
With the McClenaghan gambit not working, Rohit rightly turned to all-spin attack. Rahane getting out isn't the worst thing for RPS #MIvRPS

After 9 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 74/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 37 , Rahul Tripathi 35)
Harbhajan continues for Mumbai. He is using all his experience not giving anything away. Bowling straight and flat, not allowing Rahane, Tripathi to free their arms. The RPS batsmen though rotate the strike, picking up five singles in that over
Poor planning. The colour of the cake should have been yellow - Aussies for dessert..

For some reason, twice in succession.#MIvRPS #IPL2017 #IPL10
After 8 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 69/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 34 , Rahul Tripathi 33)
If you don’t buy the ticket, you don’t win the lottery. That was Tripathi’s approach against McClenaghan in this over. After a dot ball in the first delivery, Tripathi finds the off-side boundary. The next ball he gets lucky and the ball flies off the edge to third man. Later Rahane with another sweetly-ti,es pull shot gets four in the mid-wicket area. Big over for RPS. 14 runs come off it
This has been a steady start by Rahane and Tripathi but they would now be looking to up the ante with a solid foundation. MI need a wicket now, their bowlers haven’t looked threatening so far. Looks like a very good batting wicket. Not much in it for the bowlers.
Well, well. The celebrations have started, the entire Wankhede is singing Happy birthday song for Sachin with the flash lights on. Super stuff.
That’s some dilemma for some of the fans out there. Let’s not forget, MSD is a universally-loved cricketer.
After 7 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 55/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 29 , Rahul Tripathi 24)
Harbhajan Singh into the attack with protection in the deep after the end of the PowerPlay. MI show why they are one of the best fielding units in the IPL saving three runs off two deliveries of this Harbhajan over. The Turbanator sticks to a stump-to-stump line, giving little room for the batsmen. Rahane tries to come down the track and hot for a six but fails to connect. No damage for the RPS batsmen
The wishes for the Master Blaster just keep pouring in.
After 6 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 48/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 26 , Rahul Tripathi 20)
Karn Sharma bowls the final over the PowerPlay and Tripathi who seemed to be looking for gaps before the first ball, makes a telling connection to the first delivery that sails over mid-on for a six. Sharma came back well with just one of the next three deliveries. But Rahane once again shows his class. There is nothing wrong with the final delivery but Rahane makes great use of his wrists to flick a delivery from outside off stump to the mid-wicket boundary. Good PowerPlay for RPS. Risk-free cricket from the visitors so far.
A couple of bowling changes straightaway with Karn and Bumrah. The bowlers have not done badly so far as the run rate is just around about seven and half but they would like a wicket now.
If anyone can give a true tribute to Sachin Tendulkar it is and has to be Ajinkya Rahane.

Just watch him bat at straight and squares. #IPL
After 5 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 37/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 22 , Rahul Tripathi 13)
Jasprit Bumrah into the attack for MI. RPS get two singles off the first two deliveries, but Rahane cuts it for a boundary off the third. It is one of many conventional shots the Indian vice-captain has played today and it has paid off handsomely for him so far. Bumrah almost gets revenge as Rahane tries to cut a delivery too close to his body. Bumrah finishes the over economically
Rahane's off-drive for a boundary against Johnson reminded me of another Mumbaikar who was born on this day 😊👍🙏 #IPL #MIvRPS

Rahane started off #IPL2017 with a 60 but form tapered off after that. Has started off well tonight.#MIvRPS #IPL10

After 4 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 31/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 17 , Rahul Tripathi 13)
Karn Sharma, the debutant into the attack in the PowerPlay. But the youngster seems to hold no fear as he tosses the first one in the air. Tripathi drives through the offside for a couple. The second delivery is almost a carbon copy, and so is the end result. Rahane plays the other deliveries safely against the newcomer and it’s just six runs from the over.
Meanwhile, Sachin has just entered the MI dug out and there is a buzz among the crowd.
The MI bowlers haven’t got their lengths right so far. They have been either too short or too full. The full deliveries, especially, have been punished by Rahane and Tripathi. Young Rahul Tripathi has impressed in this tournament so far.
Did you know?
This is the 150th IPL match for both Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. Only Suresh Raina has played more matches in IPL.
Did you know?
Mumbai Indians have lost only one match this season and it was against Rising Pune Supergiant. Moreover, the last time Rising Pune Supergiant played at Wankhede, they won the match by nine wickets.
Mitchell McClenaghan has taken 47 wickets from 33 matches at an average of 22.66 since 2015 in IPL which is the third most by any bowler. Moreover, he is the joint second highest wicket taker in this IPL along with Chris Morris.
After 3 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 25/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 16 , Rahul Tripathi 8)
Johnson continued for Mumbai Indians but went round the wicket to Rahane who got a boundary through a beautiful punch off the front foot. It forced the Australian to change tactics and go over the wicket. No damage done, RPS off to a good start
The battle has well and truly begun. Rahane misses a pull but then a couple of balls later, he smashes one over cover for a six. Johnson didn’t get much movement in that over.
It’s the Rahane vs Johnson battle again. The two have had some intense battles in the past. Rahane came out on top on the last Australia tour. Will be interesting to see what approach he takes today and as I say, Johnson bangs one short , Rahane goes for the pull but misses. Just a short snippet of what we can witness.
After 2 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 18/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 11 , Rahul Tripathi 6)
Pace from the other end as for Mumbai Indians. Mitchell McClenaghan bowled left arm over. Tripathi up the Kiwi bowler in the first two deliveries before dancing down the track and hitting him for a boundary over point. MI felt to have got their man on the fourth ball as Pollard hits the stumps, but Rahane had made his ground. The RPS batsman added insult to injury with a clean straight drive for boundary
The atmosphere is building up at the Wankhede. The spectators are swaying to peppy Bollywood tracks.
‘Mind thinks MI, heart says Dhoni, ’ says a banner.
Pune have gone in with an unchanged team, can’t remember the last time that happened. Usually there is so much chopping and changing, last year they used 23 players. Gives a sign that finally the right combination is coming into place. But defending a total will be a challenge at the Wankhede with the dew.
After 1 overs,Rising Pune Supergiant 9/0 ( Ajinkya Rahane 7 , Rahul Tripathi 1)
Mitchell Johnson right on the money firing at the RPS batsmen with a lot of pace. Rahane and Tripathi maneuver first and third balls for singles. The fourth ball is the big bouncer but it was too high and Rahane let it pass. The Indian vice-captain though makes Johnson pay for a wide delivery with a flat six over covers.
It’s a party atmosphere at the Wankhede. Chants of Sachin…Sachin have started echoing inside. MI will again be chasing at their fortress. A huge cheer goes up as the MI players walk out. MI have not only proved themselves while chasing but in the last match, they defended a meagre total against DD. Pune, however, have found their lost rhythm, somewhat. Promises to be an exciting contest.
Ajinkya Rahane to take strike against Mitchell Johnson of Mumbai Indians. Countdown begins. First ball coming up
