After his controversial remarks less than a month ago, BJP’s Giriraj Singh has once again sparked off a controversy, asking why terrorists in India belong only to one particular religion.

“My intention is not to say that everyone from a community is a terrorist. But when all those arrested are from one community, why are secular parties silent,” Giriraj Singh said.

“There are some people whose political Mecca Medina are in Pakistan, they are trying to stop Modi,” he added.

While it was unclear where Singh was speaking, he also questioned the rationale of having Article 370 in force in Kashmir, calling instead for a referendum.

“Kashmiris buy property everywhere in the country. There must be a referendum on Article 370. The people should decide whether the Article is valid today in India,” he added.

On 19 April, Giriraj Singh had said that those who opposed Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan. Three FIRs were lodged against him at Deogarh, Bokaro and Patna for his hate speeches.

While Narendra Modi did not directly reprimand him, he expressed his displeasure terming the remarks as ‘irresponsible’.

The Jharkhand High Court had earlier granted him bail in the case registered with Bokaro police station.

Giriraj Singh, however, had remained defiant, defending his remarks on Twitter. “I maintain ‘many Pakistani pro are constantly opposing NaMo. This nation belongs to Indian at heart else Pakistan always welcome anti India’.”
