Nurses from Cama and Albless Hospital in Mumbai have been protesting against the deputation of three nurses from the hospital, to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan’s official residence, to take care of his ailing mother-in-law.
The nurses allege they are being forcefully deputed to ‘Varsha’ — Chavan’s official residence in the plush Malabar Hill area of south Mumbai, since 6 October, as the private nurse of the CM’s mother-in-law is on leave.
“We have requested them to bring their patients to the hospital. Here you will not just get one, but a hundred nurses to look after the patient,” Kasturi Kadam, Maharashtra Nurses Association joint secretary said, adding, “but it is not appropriate to send nurses to the homes of politicians or influential people.”
