First a supermodel and now a princess, Kendra Spears's life is the stuff of which the fantasies of little girls are made. A supermodel by profession, Spears married to the eldest son of His Highness Aga Khan IV, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, in Switzerland day before yesterday. And guess what the bride wore? A beautiful ivory sari designed by Indian designer Manav Gangwani.
Spears, born in Seattle and is a graduate in Sociology from The University of Washington began her career in 2008 and soon became the face of many top fashion brands like Prada and Escada. The supermodel announced her engagement to Prince Rahim in April and after a four-month-long engagement, the two got married in a private strictly-for-friends-and-family ceremony at Château de Bellerive in Geneva, Switzerland.
Spears wore an elegant ivory-coloured sari during the ceremony. Minimal make-up and maximum diamond jewellery completed the look. On Twitter, Spears thanked Gangwani for her wedding ensemble. Gangwani was introduced to Spears by Naomi Campbell.
Having converted to Islam and getting married according to Muslim traditions, Spears has officially changed her name to Princess Salwa Aga Khan.
Her husband generally maintains a low profile and is currently involved in the poverty reduction efforts of the Aga Khan Development Network.
He isn't the first to marry a celebrity in his family. The royal family has had several popular brides before Spears. Prince Rahim's father was married to British model Sarah Croker-Poole, and his grandfather was married to Rita Hayworth.
