New Delhi: A 27-year-old man went on a shooting spree in Delhi and killed five people before he shot himself. According to reports, Ravi, an unemployed youth from Delhi flew into a rage after he was first turned down by his sister-in-law, with who he has having an affair, and then turned down by her sister.
Ravi first went to Bindapur in south-west Delhi, where his cousin Navin, a BPO cab driver lived. Using a gun that he had carried along with him, Ravi shot his cousin in the head. When his cousin’s wife, Renu, and Navin’s landlady, Sheela rushed out on hearing the gun-shots, Ravi shot them too, a Times of India report said.
When Sheela’s son Dinesh, who works nearby, came running to the house hearing gunshots, he reportedly saw Ravi running out with a gun. The killer, reportedly, threatened to shoot him too if he came in his way.
A Times of India report quotes the police saying that Ravi allegedly had an illicit relationship with Renu and had sought to marry either her or her sister Baby. However, he was rejected by both of them.
After killing Navin, Renu and Sheela, Ravi reportedly drove 40 kms to Isapur in Ghaziabad where Renu’s family lived. He barged into Renu’s house and fired several times at her father Harender and sister Baby.
When he was surrounded by the villagers, who had come to the spot after hearing gunfire, he shot himself in the head. A country-made revolver and another foreign made revolver was recovered from the site where Ravi shot himself.
However, an Indian Express report says that the first victim Navin might not have been shot and may have been killed in some other manner. According to the police, when they recovered Navin’s body later there were no injury marks visible. The report says that Navin had either been strangled or poisoned long before the others in the house were shot.
