Sonakshi Sinha-Justin Bieber concert: Amaal Malik hits back at actress, Luv Sinha

After having lent her voice to tracks like 'Aaj Mood Ishqaholic Hai' and 'Let's Celebrate' (among others), Sonakshi Sinha was touted to be one of the opening acts for the upcoming Justin Bieber performance in Mumbai. Bieber, best known for hits like 'Sorry' and 'Baby', is scheduled to perform at the DY Patil Stadium on 10 May 2017.

However, Sonakshi's reported inclusion on the performance roster didn't go down too well, with, well, real singers.

Kailash Kher was among the first to flag the issue, when he said in an interview:

"It doesn't give a good message internationally... Whenever any singer from the West comes to India, we get an actor on board to match their level. We don't get a singer for another singer, but an actor. Event managers and producers of the entertainment industry are so scared."

Then, Armaan Malik seconded Kher's views, and posted the following message on Twitter:

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Sonakshi didn't take too kindly to Armaan's tweet, and shot back this reply:

And just to drive home the point further, followed it up with:

There was just one problem: Armaan Malik is a singer. It is his brother Amaal who is the composer and presumably approached Sonakshi for a song collaboration.

Armaan also went on to explain just why he felt real singers and not actors should be given opportunities like these: "It takes years of practice and devotion to be a professional. Be it acting, singing or any art for that matter. If you do something, do it well. Millions of singers are finding opportunities to work. Imagine how crushed they would feel when they see non-singers getting that chance?" His brother Amaal also made an attempt to set the record straight:

"Musicians = Singers and Artists who have some musical knowledge at least," he wrote.

The latest update on the feud however, is that Sonakshi may not even be performing at the Bieber gig.

"First of all, I am not performing at the Bieber concert," Sonakshi wrote, stating that it was speculation based on the fact that she had been approached by the organisers.

"Secondly, I am an actor who also loves music, loves to perform and sing. And if anyone has a problem with that, in the wise words of Bieber himself, they can go 'love' themselves," Sonakshi wrote, in a message on Twitter.

Hmm, we wonder if that disclaimer should have just been issued right at the start? And now Amaal has once again bounced back with a long Facebook post targeted at Sinha.
