The music rights of Shah Rukh Khan's latest project with Imtiaz Ali, which has tentatively been titled The Ring, have been acquired by Sony days after the music company got the rights for the music of Salman Khan-starrer Tubelight.
The Ring's music was acquired by Sony for Rs 15 crore, and the film has already raked up Rs 100 crores despite not having released a teaser or trailer. Tubelight's music rights were bought for Rs 20 crores, which is Rs 5 crore more than The Ring.
Bollywood Hungamareports that Tubelight only has three situational songs, whereas The Ring has more songs and these songs have had a bigger impact in the commercial space. Interestingly, the music of both films has been produced by Pritam. Tubelight also has Abhijit Vaghani as a music composer along with Pritam.
The Ring is a romantic film and also stars Anushka Sharma; the duo will be seen romancing each other after Sharma's debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The film is produced by Imtiaz Ali and Gauri Khan, and is expected to release on 11 August, 2017.
Tubelight is an Indo-Chinese project by Kabir Khan which will see Salman Khan in the role of an army man for the first time. He shares screen space with the Chinese actor Zhu Zhu in this film, which also features Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role. The two stars were last seen together in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam.
While Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Rahul Dholakia's Raees, Salman last made a presence on the big screen in Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan. SRK is set to work with Aanand L Rai on a film that is untitled, which will release in December 2018. Salman's upcoming releases include the sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, which is called Tiger Zinda Hai, where he stars opposite Katrina Kaif.
