Held at the the JioGarden at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2017 saw many celebrities walking the ramp for their favourite designers. Here’s a roundup of the week:
Day 1
Lakme Fashion Week 2017 kicked off in Mumbai on Wednesday, 1 February 2017. The first showstopper of the week was Varun Dhawan who walked the ramp along with his friend Arjun Kapoor for designer Kunal Rawal’s show.
Day 2
The Sustainable Fashion and Textile Day at Lakmé Fashion Week showcased eco-friendly fashion at its best.
Preity Zinta walked the ramp for designer Sanjukta Dutta; whose collection showcased traditional weaving patterns in vivid colours.
Day 3
Day 3 of the fashion week saw many celebrities walking the ramp for their equally well-known designer friends.
Befikre star Vaani Kapoor was the showstopper for LABEL Ritu Kumar’s new collection , a collection themed around ‘Maharaja Pop.’
Designer Duo Falguni and Shane Peacock had Bipasha Basu as their showstopper.
Aprita Mehta’s Summer/Resort ‘17 collection titled #IslandLife had Karisma Kapoor walking the ramp.
Nimrat Kaur graced the runway for Sonam and Paras Modi in an embellished lehenga in a deep shade of red.
Diana Penty walked the ramp flaunting Payal Singhal’s latest collection which was inspired by Agatha Christie’s dark romantic murder mystery Death on the Nile.
Burgoyne (Irish linen manufacturers) presented a menswear show with designer Narendra Kumar. Brand ambassador Rahul Khanna was the showstopper for the collection.
Romanian TV celebrity Iulia Vantur, rumoured to be Salman Khan’s beau, walked the ramp as a showstopper for the brand Splash. Karishma Tanna, who was last seen in Comedy Nights with Kapil, also made an appearance.
Day 4
Tarun Tahiliani new collection showcased pastel banarasi lehengas paired with georgette shirts. Padma Lakshmi walked the ramp after almost a decade for her designer friend.
Day 5
The final day of the fashion week started with Divya Reddy’s collection ‘Shahibzadi’ which showcased Malaika Arora on the ramp.
The #NotWhatIWear show, which sought to encourage women to freely make sartorial decisions without being judged for it had Mallika Dua, Varun Thakur and RJ Malishka walking the ramp together.
Sashi Vangapalli had Sushmita Sen return to the ramp as the showstopper for her label ‘Mugdha Art Studio’.
Celebrity desginer Gaurang’s summer resort 2017 had Tabu walk the ramp in a off-white and gold Indian ensemble.
The grand finale of the week had Kareena Kapoor Khan walk the ramp for Anita Dongre in a stunning gold and white ensemble. Bandra Fort’s heritage structure, which is also known as Castella de Aguada, served as a dramatic backdrop for the designer, who wrapped up the event with the grandeur it deserved. The event saw walking the ramp for the first time after 46 days of giving birth to her son Taimur Ali Khan.
