It was earlier reported that Sony Entertainment Television is not keen to renew its Rs 106 crore contract with The Kapil Sharma Show because of the negative publicity the channel got as a result of Sharma's public spat with fellow comedian Sunil Grover.
Now, The Economic Times reports that Sharma has been given a month-long grace period to mend his ways and increase the TRPs of his show if he wants his show to continue to be aired on the channel. Majority of his team, Grover, Chandan Prabhakar, Ali Asgar and Sugandha Mishra, has walked out of the show following Sharma's treatment of his crew while they were on a plane, on their way back from Australia where they had staged a show.
The channel also seems more keen on having Grover on-board. They roped him in to stage an act in the season finale of Indian Idol 9. As they continue to reportedly appease Grover, they have given an ultimatum to Sharma to buck up. While Grover's contract with the channel terminates later this month, his appearance in Indian Idol and subsequent roaring response at a Delhi live show, might just lead to him replacing Sharma's slot on the channel.
Though Sharma roped in veteran comedian Raju Srivastava as Grover's replacement, the TRPs remain at an all time low. Thus, the channel has given 30 days to Sharma to pull up his sock or bear the brunt. Bollywood Life reports that Sharma has indeed resolved to mend his ways, given his discipline in the shooting of the last two shows this past week.
The same report states that he came on time for both the shoots and was at his warmest best while posing with his fans for selfies. He also hosted three renowned Hindi film personalities on the show as part of their promotional activities of upcoming movies.
In the first shoot, he hosted Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra who will soon be seen in Akshay Roy's romantic comedy Meri Pyaari Bindu. He even sang 'Maana K Hum Yaar Nahi', the singing debut of Chopra from the film. Then, he hosted Raveena Tandon in the second shoot, who will soon be seen in Ashtar Sayed's revenge thriller Maatr.
