Dhaka: Police in Bangladesh have arrested three activists of the radical Islamist Hizb ut-Tahrir political party for pasting posters denouncing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country, a media report said on Saturday.

A police officer said they were detained while sticking the posters at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on Friday, bdnews24.com reported.

“They were pasting posters against the Indian prime minister’s visit and the state. Students nabbed them and informed police,” the officer said.

Among those arrested, Ishtiaque Hossain, 25, is a student of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology while Ahsan Ali Mia, 24, studies at Government Commerce College.

Abdul Zawad, 22, cleared the higher secondary examination this year from the city’s Ispahani Public School, the official said.

He added that scores of “anti-state” posters were recovered from them.
