The sons of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan have issued a desperate and emotional appeal for “proof of life,” stating they fear that “something irreversible” may have happened to their father, who has been held in prison since August 2023.

Amid intense speculation regarding the jailed leader’s health and wellbeing, Kasim Khan, one of the former Prime Minister’s sons, described the family’s lack of information as a form of human rights abuse.

In written remarks, Kasim condemned the silence from authorities, saying the uncertainty has caused profound anguish.

“Not knowing whether your father is safe, injured or even alive is a form of psychological torture,” Kasim stated, as reported by Reuters.

The family, including Kasim and his brother Suleiman Isa Khan, who live in London with their mother Jemima Goldsmith, claim that verifiable contact with the former PM has been cut off for months, overriding a court order that allows weekly meetings.

“Today we have no verifiable information at all about his condition. Our greatest fear is that something irreversible is being hidden from us,” he added, stressing the need for pressure from “every direction” to ensure his father is safe.

The concerns come as Khan, 72, continues to serve lengthy jail sentences handed down in cases including the Toshakhana graft case, the alleged leaking of a diplomatic cable, and charges related to the Al-Qadir Trust—convictions he has consistently dismissed as politically driven following his 2022 ouster.

Despite the family’s dire warnings, a high-ranking member of Khan’s own party offered assurance that the leader is alive, while simultaneously alleging immense political pressure.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Khurram Zeeshan told news agency ANI that the former Prime Minister is alive but is currently facing attempts to force him into a political exile.

“They are trying to strike a deal with Imran Khan, asking him to leave the country,” Zeeshan asserted. “They even promise him concessions if he goes abroad and stays silent at a place of his choice. But Imran Khan will never agree to it.”

A fire in Hong Kong's Wang Fuk Court housing estate claimed 151 lives, the deadliest since 1948. Authorities arrested student activist Miles Kwan for organizing a petition demanding an independent probe into the fire. The fire has sparked public outrage over potential regulatory failures and the use of flammable materials in renovations.
