Xbox introduces new entertainment apps for Xbox: Vine, Twitter, HBO Go

Xbox announced more than 45 new entertainment apps on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 globally.

The new apps include TV-Twitter integration, Vine, HBO GO, Showtime Anytime, Comedy Central, Major League Gaming and more. All of them are scheduled to be launched by the end of this holiday season. With the addition of these apps Xbox One and Xbox 360 will now host more than 225 apps around the world.

This new feature will allow Xbox’s gamers to switch between playing and watching their favourite TV shows, movies and using their apps. Xbox One and the Xbox 360 currently host over 180 apps in addition to these entertainment features making Xbox Live a contender in the home entertainment space.

Twitter’s integration into the Xbox One’s TV experience will be optimized to engage and enable the user to see tweets related to the cable or satellite TV show they are currently watching. Additionally, the Twitter experience will be integrated to the OneGuide which will list out shows which people are currently tweeting about in real-time.

The OneGuide will also showcase the trend development on listed TV shows so the popularity of each show is known to the user. Commercial breaks will be optimized by viewing tweets of what others are viewing and the show which is gaining popularity.

Apart from Twitter Xbox has plans of integrating with other companies to enhance the experience of Xbox One and Xbox 360 users. MLG have gained quite a bit of traction since its inception as an Xbox 360 app. Xbox now has planned to add the global leader in eSports to its Xbox One division. This will allow the user to watch all’s competitive gaming content such as MLG news show “eSport Report” and premier competitions.

The app will allow you to gain access to world’s best players, teams, leagues and tournaments as they are broadcasted live on to the MLG app. The other app that is likely to be introduced on the Xbox One is Vine, allowing the user to view and share videos on the service.
