We all been there before. You take an Uber , the driver gets chatty and for some reason you end up feeling insecure that he actually knows where you live or where you are headed. So for those who love to keep their privacy intact and not share their information with drivers, Uber has come up with an interesting new solution in its app.
Instead of entering a place of interest or a location as a pick-up or drop-off destination, Uber users in the US can now simply enter in their cross streets to pin point their location or destination.
The service for now is available only for users in the US and basically will not share the exact location or address of the rider with the driver. The new feature works in another way as well. Like when you are standing in location that you do not know too well for example.
Just type in two street names when entering a location for pick or a destination for drop. If the cross streets do not populate in the drop down below, Uber says that you can simply enter “your exact address and then simply move the pin in the map to your desired location before you request.”
There are other privacy related features also built into the Uber app. Uber already anonymises riders’ and drivers’ details (phone numbers) so that they can connect with one another without sharing their real digits.
Additionally, if a rider reports an issue with the trip, Uber will not disclose his or her identity with driver as the situation at hand is being reviewed.
