After a disappointing 2016, LG's smartphone division is slowly repairing the damages caused by its modular approach of the LG G5. This year the new G6 took on a more simple approach and got the basics right.
Apart from its flagship range, LG has the 'V' range which usually comes out with a more out-of-the-box concept. The V10 and V20 were both impressive smartphones carrying flagship level hardware and a unique secondary display above the primary display to act as an always-on notification bar.
A concept render of the upcoming V30 has emerged and just like the last two versions, this one too has two displays. However, the implementation is a bit different. If the renders are legit, the V30 could feature a slider design which would open up to reveal a secondary display. The renders come from popular tipster Evan Blass as he suggests that the renders are a part of an old concept called Project Joan that LG had been working on.
As you can see from the images, LG is hoping to use this secondary slider display to be used as an extension of the primary display. It could be used to show options for apps, be used a dock to place your app icons, and best of all, it could be used as a keyboard, saving ample real estate on the main display.
Whether or not LG will make this concept into a reality is still unknown, but these mock-ups do look fantastic.
