Even as we await the announcement of the D610 from Nikon on October 7 or 8, some specifications leaked about the camera have shown that it will be almost identical to the D600. This move was pretty much anticipated since the newer camera is supposed to be a fix for the D600’s sensor speck issue.

Nikon Rumours has published a first-set of specifications for the Nikon D610. The report suggests that the specifications are “100 percent identical” with the current model of Nikon D600. The camera will sport a 24.3MP sensor, 6016 x 4016 in L mode, with an ISO range of 100-6400.

The Nikon D610 will have 39 AF points with 9 crosstype as well as 100 percent viewfinder coverage. The camera will also allow HD video recording, a 3.2-inch 921K-dot LCD screen with dimensions of 141X113X82mm. Quite like the D600, the D610 will also be made in Thailand.

The publication has also said that the D610 will not have built-in GPS or Wi-Fi capabilities. In another difference, the newer camera will have 6fps and not 5.5fps, as compared to the D600. Since this is supposed to be an improvement over the D600, Nikon’s newest D610 will have a brand new weather sealing feature that is identical to the D800. The D600 only had “extensive” weather sealing on “various points of the body”.

This, however, does not mean that there may not be other improvements on the camera when it releases. These specifications are only the first set. Even then, since the body size of the D610 is in line with the D600, it is indicative that it may simply be an improvement clone of the earlier model.
