HP announces two education-focused Chromebooks with military grade durability

Both the new HP Chromebooks also feature a spill-resistant keyboard for more longevity.

Chromebooks are beginning to gain a lot of popularity among students and teaching community and to add to their options, HP just launched two new Chromebooks, both with military-grade durability.

Apart from being MIL-STD-810G tested, both the HP Chromebook x360 11 G2 EE and the Chromebook 11 G7 EE also feature a spill-resistant keyboard.

Starting with the Chromebook x360 11 G2 EE, the device features an 11-inch touch-screen IPS display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, two USB-C ports, one regular USB port, a headphone jack, and an SD card slot. The 360-degree hinge lets you turn the device into a tablet, with the optional Wacom EMR pen, letting users jot down notes or a sketch.

Inside, the Chromebook is powered by either a dual-core Intel Celeron N4000 or a quad-core N4100 chip with 8 GB of RAM and either 32 GB or 64 GB of storage. HP promises up to 11.5 hours of battery life here and also keeps the weight down to just 1.47 kilograms.

The Chromebook 11 G7 EE has a lot in common with the G2 EE except that its hinge only rotates to 180-degress and is available with regular non-touchscreen display options. The non-touchscreen option do boast of a higher battery life of up to 13 hours.

Both the Chromebook x360 11 G2 EE and 11 G7 EE will go on sale in April and their prices will be announced at a later stage.
