Google’s mid-range smartphones, the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL, have been subjected to several leaks and rumours since the past few months. While the purported details about the Pixel 3 Lite XL recently surfaced on the Internet, an alleged video of the Pixel 3 Lite in the form of a “pre-production sample” has now shown up.
The leaked video first spotted by Android Police was posted by a YouTube channel called Andro News. Notably, the original video was removed from YouTube, however, a website called mobile.com managed to obtain the footage and reuploaded it on the platform. The supposed video review of the Pixel 3 Lite confirms a few salient aspects that were reported earlier.
From what we can observe, the phone showcased in the video seems to feature a plastic body instead of a glass and metal sandwich found on the Pixel 3. However, a glass shade could be seen on the upper half with white colour tinge and bright yellow power button. Given that it is a “pre-production sample,” it sports a ‘generic logo’ instead of Google’s ‘G’ branding on the rear panel.
From the front fascia, the phone looks fairly similar to the original Pixel 3 with chunky bezels at the top and bottom. However, the alleged Pixel 3 Lite lacks the dual selfie-camera and the front firing speaker at the bottom. At the base, a USB-C port is flanked in between the mono speaker grills.
Interestingly, the Pixel 3 Lite in the leaked video yet again shows the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack at the top edge which was ditched on the premium Pixel 3 series.
Additionally, the hands-on video review reveals the specification listing of the Pixel 3 Lite as well. The phone supposedly codenamed ‘Sargo’ runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 paired with 4 GB of RAM. Apparently, the phone features the same 12.2 MP camera with an f/1.8 aperture as the expensive Pixel 3 model, but it seems to lack the “spectral and flicker sensor” between the flash and the camera sensor. However, Andro News claims that the phone takes same quality photos as the Pixel 3.
Other details revealed in the video corroborates with the previous reports including the 5.5-inch 2160 x 1080 LCD panel, 32GB internal storage and Android 9.0 OS. As for the battery capacity, the phone is said to pack a 2,915 mAh battery. According to the video, Google’s upcoming Pixel 3 Lite variants will reportedly launch after the Moutain View company’s annual I/O developer conference. However, the launch timeline contravenes the previous reports that indicated that Google might introduce the mid-range Pixel 3 Lite lineup next month at MWC 2019.
