Even while Google has announced a few new Google Play edition devices for the US, the company has also made official a white iteration of its flagship tablet, the Nexus 7. After experimenting with white coloured variants for the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5, Google has decided to give its tablet some white love too.
The Google Nexus account on Twitter announced the arrival of a white version of the Nexus 7. Unfortunately, the new tablet is available in the US, UK and Japan only for now. There’s no word on when the white Nexus 7 will make its way to other markets, if it will at all.
If you do want a white-coloured Nexus 7, though, you will have to give up on certain expectations. The device comes only in the 32GB, Wi-Fi variant. No LTE and no lower storage option available as of now. The white Nexus 7 pretty much resembles its Nexus 4 and 5 counterparts. The white is limited only to the back panel of the device while the front of the tablet is completely black.
In the US, the white Nexus 7 is retailing for $270 via the Google Play Store. Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the Nexus 7 tablet:
- 7-inch 1920 x 1200 HD display
- Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz/5 GHz) 802.11 a/b/g/n
- Bluetooth 4.0, NFC (Android Beam)
- 1.2 MP front facing, fixed focus camera, 5 MP rear facing, auto focus
- 16GB, 32GB on-board storage
Google is also starting to sell the new folio case for the Nexus 7 tablet. The folio features an open back bumper-style case with a trifold cover. It has an adjustable kickstand and is made of polycarbonate and a soft elastomer. The folio puts the device to sleep when closed and wakes it up when opened. You can also find the folio on the Indian Google Play store , but it’s labeled as coming soon for Rs 3,299.
