One of the most popular indie games of 2012, FTL: Faster Than Light, is coming to iPad. Developer Subset Games made the announcement on the game’s official website that it will be hitting the iTunes App Store some time in early 2014. Sadly enough, no details on the price have been revealed. The game will be compatible with all iPads from the second generation onwards, and both of the iPad minis.

Talking about bringing the game to Android tablets and Surface, the studio has said that it hopes to bring it to all platforms, but it wants to finish working on the iOS version first. Multi-platform releases are especially difficult when the entire development team consists of two people. “Expanding tablet support will be our next highest priority, but we don’t want to make any promises (or rejections) until we’re 100% sure of the outcome,” says the studio.

The PC version of the game is also getting a large free content update, titled FTL: Advanced Edition. It includes new weapons, drones, augments, systems and enemies. Some of the new features in the Advanced Edition include a mind control system, a hacking system, new sector and events and new weapons and effects. It will be released on the PC around the same time as the iPad gets the game. The iPad version of the game will include all of the additional goodies from the Advanced Edition from the get go.

Currently, FTL is available on PC through a bunch of digital distribution outlets, including Steam and GOG .

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
