Procreate’s new animation app Dreams set to be launched for iPads in November this year

Since its inception a decade ago in 2011, Procreate has maintained its status as the go-to creative application for iPads. Now, the company is all set to launch of the all-new Procreate Dreams app. This innovative app is poised to revolutionize the creative process for artists and graphic engineers by enabling them to craft animations directly on their iPads. With Procreate Dreams, users can seamlessly blend drawing, cel animation, keyframing, and editing tasks with greater efficiency and speed than ever before. Procreate Dreams introduces a next-generation painting and compositing engine, elevating the painting experience to new heights. Artists can now work on raster projects with resolutions scaling up to an impressive 1 million by 1 million pixels, along with an abundance of layers for their creative pursuits. The app is meticulously optimized for use with the Apple Pencil stylus, offering minimal latency to ensure that every stylus stroke is captured with precision, resulting in exquisite digital artwork. Users will find an array of powerful features at their fingertips. Drawing on the timeline with the Apple Pencil allows for a quick selection of content, tracks, or keyframes, which can then be edited collectively. The app supports various functions, including group drawings, track movement, content retiming, keyframe adjustments, and more. Navigation within the timeline is made effortless, empowering users to add actions precisely and swiftly return to playback for a seamless viewing experience. Furthermore, the new Dreams app includes all the Procreate brushes within an improved painting engine, complemented by an expanded array of layers for increased creative freedom. It seamlessly integrates with files created in Procreate’s renowned digital illustration application. Frame-by-frame animation is also supported, featuring the innovative Flipbook feature for crafting short looping GIFs and intricate character animations. Onion skinning, a pivotal 2D animation technique, is easily accessible with customizable options for backward and forward frames, encompassing attributes like colours and opacity. Cel animators can create multiple frame-by-frame animations within a single project, applying Live Motion and Filters through Performing or Keyframes. Procreate Dreams streamlines the keyframe process, simplifying it for users. A simple tap on a keyframe unlocks the multimedia file, allowing precise editing of every property. Transitions can be finely tuned by selecting the appropriate easing option. The app empowers creators with Live Motion and Filters, granting full creative control to adjust colours, apply blur filters, fine-tune movement, and experiment with filters without permanently altering the underlying content. Notably, Procreate Dreams offers compatibility with 8K ProRes videos shot on Apple devices, enabling post-production activities such as cropping, cutting, panning, and zooming with high-resolution video. Users can generate, import, and work with assets within a single project, with minimal layer limitations. The app even accommodates 1TB files, opening them instantaneously without any delays. To enhance the creative process further, Procreate Dreams incorporates a potent audio engine, allowing users to add voice-overs to animations and infuse characters with life. Atmospheric music and compelling sound effects can also be seamlessly integrated to elevate projects. Procreate Dreams is set to make its debut on the Apple App Store later this year, on November 22. Apple iPad owners will have the opportunity to acquire this powerful tool for a one-time payment of $19.99 (approximately Rs 1,660). This marks an exciting milestone for artists and creators, promising a new realm of possibilities for digital art and animation.
