This year’s edition of Computex has officially begun and to kick it off, Taiwan-based IT and smartphone company Asus announced a bunch of new laptops, including an update to its ZenBook series. Three new models were announced, including the ZenBook Pro, the ZenBook Flip S and the Zenbook 3 Deluxe.
Starting with the ZenBook Pro (UX550), which seems to be competing head-on with the new Apple MacBook Pro, features a 15.6-inch 4K display, a 7th-generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti inside an 18.9 mm chassis. It will be offered with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage. It also includes a fingerprint sensor, Thunderbolt 3.0 ports and a quad-speaker system from Harman Kardon. Asus is calling it the ’thinnest, lightest and most powerful ZenBook Pro ever.'
Next up is the ZenBook Flip S (UX370) which is said to be the thinnest convertible notebook. It features a hinge that lets the display fold all the way back and also features a dual-action mechanism that can lift and tilt the keyboard into the typing position even when the display is opened beyond 135 degrees. The machine offers a total thickness of just 10.9 mm. The ZenBook Flip S will be offered with a 7th-generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor along with up to 1 TB SSD storage. It also features a new cooling system that uses a liquid-crystal-polymer fan. It also features a 13.3-inch 4K UHD multi-touch NanoEdge display which supports an active stylus. Like the ZenBook Pro, you get a fingerprint scanner for quick login.
Lastly, we have the ZenBook 3 Deluxe (UX490), which is a 14-inch version of the original ZenBook 3 and thankfully, offers three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support. The laptop features a 14-inch NanoEdge display and is powered by 7th-generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor with up to 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB PCIe SSD. The USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 offer up to 40 Gbps data transfers and support dual 4K UHD external displays. The overall design is similar to the ZenBook 3 and will be offered in similar colour configurations as well.
