Bose Debuts Companion 5 PC Speakers

Bose Corp. has introduced its Companion 5 Multimedia speaker system for movies, music and games on personal computers.

Companion 5 system includes two visible speakers and one hideaway Acoustimass module, to deliver a multi-channel audio content. The set up does not require any software installation, sound card upgrade, adapters or complicated wiring, as the speakers can be connected directly via USB. The system aims to create a desktop theater, offering the performance of a fully wired five-speaker system, with plug and play simplicity.Bose has used its TrueSpace surround processing circuitry, developed specifically for computer applications, enabling the system to deliver a soundstage without using rear speakers. The technology claims to provide the 5.1 audio experience that many games and movies are encoded in and enhance the stereo music on hard drives.
