An Indian start up is resisting a bid by a Boston based biotech firm which has filed for the 'digital vaccines' trademark and many leading researchers from America's most reputed institutions are backing the Indian start up's case to keep 'digital vaccines' in the scientific realm.

Dagarwal • 8 years agoAccording to trademark law, generic names (common names, dictionary words, descriptive words) are not protected as trademarks. An example of a generic name is ‘rice’- an individual/company can register the brand name used for selling rice (such as ‘India Gate’ or ‘Daawat’) but not the word ‘rice’ itself.
