The Bihar Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution for the second time in just over a year favouring a caste-based census in 2021.

Nitish Kumar called for a caste-based census in 2021, citing that the population of the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes had gone up. He said the caste-based census will help update data estimates recorded in the last census in 1931.
