That’s it from us in our coverage of a cracker of a match between Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot, the last game of this tournament at this venue. It literally went down the wire, GL nearly pulling off a stunning win, before a dream run by Bumrah in the super over ensured he guided MI to a 5-run win! This clearly has been THE MATCH of IPL 2017 so far!
Thank you all for joining in today. Looking forward to another double-header tomorrow. Till then, goodnight!
Gr8 fight by Gujarat but must bow to Mumbai. And Bumrah. Brilliant Super Over establishes him arguably best in country in 'death' situations

Phenomenal last over. Gujarat Lions had their moments but were denied by one of the best bowled last overs you will see. #Bumrah
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) April 29, 2017
Mumbai collapsed from 104/2 to 153 all out. They lost two wickets in the super-over to score only 11 runs. On top of that, Bumrah started off with a no-ball and a wide! And yet Bumrah managed to get Mumbai home with what should go down as one of the greatest overs in IPL history! Terrific, terrific over by Bumrah, putting up a perfect display of death bowling to choke the likes of McCullum and Finch, two well-established hard-hitters!
What an evening we’ve had! After a string of one-sided games, we really needed a cracker of a contest to bring the tournament alive!
Bumrah, you genius! 👏🔥#GLvMI #CricketMeriJaan #MI pic.twitter.com/4B4R8KeKJN

4. DOT! Pinpoint in his yorker, and Bumrah is accurate in his line! ! GL 4/0
3. Another superb slower ball, and a bye is all that McCullum can collect! GL 4/0

1. Wide! Disappointing for him. Saw Baz move across, and bowls a wide one outside off. GL 3/0
1. Good delivery by Bumrah in the free-hit, with Finch completely missing the ball in his attempted ramp shot. GL 2/0
1. No-ball! Bumrah had a couple of no-balls earlier, and this is not the stage for one to concede such follies! GL 1/0
It’s McCullum and Finch walking out to bat for Gujarat.
James Faulkner in super-over:
29/04/2014: 11 runs, 0 wickets v KKR
29/04/2017: 11 runs, 2 wickets v MI
Well then, Bumrah will be bowling the super over for Mumbai! Let’s see who walk out for Gujarat (most likely Baz and Faulkner)
With only three batsmen available in the super-over, Mumbai cannot face the last ball of the super-over.
5. OUT! Buttler miscues the next ball, another slower ball, and Kishan takes a fine catch at point! MI 11/2
4: OUT! Change of angle works for Faulkner, as he comes over the wicket. Pollard fails to middle this one, and gets caught by Finch at wide long-on! MI 11/1
3: SIX! This time Pollard goes big towards long-on! MI 11/0
2: FOUR! Pollard heaves it towards wide long-off, and gets a boundary for it! MI 5/0
1: Right then. The first super over of IPL 2017, and Buttler collects a single off the first ball, patting it towards the off-side. MI 1/0
Mumbai Indians to bat first in the super-over! James Faulkner will be bowling this one, with Buttler and Pollard walking out for this one.
And we have the first super-over of this tournament! What a match this turned out to be! It took a superb effort on Gujarat’s part to pull the game back in their favour, from 104/2 to 153 all out!

Pathan to bowl the final over. SIX! Krunal powers the first ball down the ground with a mighty heave! Krunal takes a single in the next ball, before Bumrah gets run-out in the third ball. Krunal guides the fourth ball towards backward point, and collects a couple of runs! Kishan does well to save a couple near the boundary! Krunal can only get a single off the fifth ball.
All fielders converge inside the circle, with McCullum standing right next to the umpire. The ball deflects off Malinga’s foot, and Krunal is caught well marginally short of his crease at the striker’s end, thanks to a superb direct hit by Jadeja!
OUT! Bumrah is run-out while trying to collect a quick single! What are we witnessing right now? Proper thriller at the moment! MI 150/9
Bumrah run-out 0(1)
After 19 overs,Mumbai Indians 143/8 ( Krunal Pandya 19 , )
Thampi bowls the penultimate over, and gets rid of Hardik in the very first ball, with the latter miscuing an attempted slog towards midwicket. Krunal gets a couple of runs in the third ball, before nearly getting run-out in the next ball. Harbhajan gets trapped lbw, before McClenaghan gets run-out in the last ball. Thampi pulls Gujarat right back into the game!
Mumbai Indians need 11 to win from 6 balls.

McClenaghan run out 1(1)
OUT! What an over by Thampi! Harbhajan was looking to hit it across the line, and got trapped lbw in front of leg for a golden duck! MI 142/7
Harbhajan lbw Thampi 0(1)
OUT! No end to the twists in this game, with Hardik miscuing an attempted slog while looking to clear the boundary towards the leg side! Gets caught by Kishan at the midwicket boundary! MI 139/6
Hardik c Kishan b Thampi 4(5)
After 18 overs,Mumbai Indians 139/5 ( Krunal Pandya 16 , Hardik Pandya 4)
Faulkner into the attack for the last time this evening. Krunal flicks the third ball towards the leg side, and Gujarat skipper Raina nearly pulls off a stunner at square-leg. Krunal mistimes a slog towards cow-corner, and gets a couple of runs in the process. Goes for a similar shot in the last ball, and this time the ball lands just wide of a diving McCullum, before running away for a boundary. Nine off the over!
Mumbai Indians need 15 to win from 12 balls.
After 17 overs,Mumbai Indians 130/5 ( Krunal Pandya 9 , Hardik Pandya 2)
FOUR! Pollard and his almight heave towards the leg side! Tries the same thing next ball, but ends up holing out straight into the hands of McCullum at longon. Hardik joins brother Krunal out at the centre, and the two siblings will look to guide Mumbai home right now.
Mumbai Indians need 24 to win from 18 balls.
OUT! Right after getting a boundary, Pollard gets ambitious again, except he holes out to McCullum at long-on! MI 127/5
Pollard c McCullum b Thampi 15(11)
After 16 overs,Mumbai Indians 123/4 ( Kieron Pollard 11 , Krunal Pandya 8)
Krunal Pandya got MI a much needed boundary. GL showed some nerves as Suresh Raina gave away some overthrows. Nine runs came off that over which is par to their requirement at the moment
After 15 overs,Mumbai Indians 114/4 ( Kieron Pollard 8 , Krunal Pandya 2)
Thampi back into the attack. Pollard and Krunal, who have formed match-winning stands in this edition before, stick to singles in this over. Five runs off the over, with the umpire calling for the second timeout of the innings.
Mumbai Indians need 40 to win from 30 balls.
After 14 overs,Mumbai Indians 109/4 ( Kieron Pollard 5 , Krunal Pandya 0)
Faulkner into his second over, and gets rid of Rohit in the first ball while the latter was looking to guide towards fine-leg. Pollard walks out, and gets a leading edge off the next two deliveries, with the first one running away to the third-man boundary. Pollard flicks one towards midwicket, where Thampi puts down a chance. The Australian all-rounder though, gets his second wicket of the over by dismissing Parthiv in near identical-manner as Rohit.
Mumbai Indians need 45 to win from 36 balls.
OUT! And this is a double-wicket over for Faulkner! And it mirrors Rohit’s dismissal, as he gets a top-edge while looking to guide a cutter down towards third man. What was an easy chase so far has suddenly turned into pressure situation for Mumbai! MI 109/4
Parthiv c Karthik b Faulkner 70(44)
OUT! Rohit gets a faint nick off Faulkner’s bowling while looking to guide the first ball down towards fine-leg! Gets caught-behind for 5; MI 108/3
Rohit c Karthik b Faulkner 5(13)
After 13 overs,Mumbai Indians 104/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 70 , Rohit Sharma (C) 5)
Jadeja introduced in the 13th over of the innings, and ends up conceding 11 off it, with the 100 coming up for Mumbai in the over. Parthiv hammers consecutive boundaries off the last two balls of the over.
Mumbai Indians need 50 to win from 42 balls.
After 12 overs,Mumbai Indians 93/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 61 , Rohit Sharma (C) 3)
Soni into the attack for the last time in this innings, and he signs off on another economical note, giving away just three off the over to finish wit figures of 4-0-16-1. Stumping chance missed by Karthik in the penultimate delivery.
Mumbai Indians need 61 to win from 48 balls.
After 11 overs,Mumbai Indians 90/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 60 , Rohit Sharma (C) 1)
FOUR! Parthiv hits the first ball towards cow-corner, where Tye ends up hurting his left shoulder while diving to stop the ball. Injury scare for Gujarat as he goes off the field, and the Lions will be anxiously monitoring his recovery now. Eight off the over.
Mumbai Indians need 64 to win from 54 balls.
After 10 overs,Mumbai Indians 82/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 53 , Rohit Sharma (C) 0)
FOUR! Bad delivery for Rana to start off with, bowling it wide outside off, and Rana ensures it gets punished, driving it towards the off-side. Soni though, hits back in the fourth ball of the over, trapping him lbw, though he enjoyed a bit of luck in this case as the ball had brushed off Rana’s gloves. Six runs and a wicket off this over. Mumbai though, still the favourites at the halfway mark.
Mumbai Indians need 76 to win from 60 balls.
Rohit Sharma has scored 112 runs from seven innings in this IPL at an average of 18.67 which is the least by any captain among captains who have batted atleast five innings in this IPL.
OUT! Soni strikes, and gets rid of the dangerous Rana, trapping him with a full-pitched delivery that turned and rapped him on the pad while the batsman was looking for a reverse-sweep. Rana though, is quite unhappy with the decision, and we understand why as replays show him getting a bit of glove. MI 82/2
Rana lbw Soni 19(16)
After 9 overs,Mumbai Indians 76/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 52 , Nitish Rana 14)
Raina into his third over, and he persists with his decision to keep himself in the attack, with the left-handed batsmen at the crease now. Four singles in the over, with Parthiv and Rana quite relaxed out there right now.
Mumbai Indians need 82 to win from 66 balls.
After 8 overs,Mumbai Indians 72/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 50 , Nitish Rana 12)
Soni into the attack for the eighth over, and appeals loudly for an lbw in the third ball of the over, with umpire Gaffaney turning the appeal down in a good decision. The two batsmen deal in singles in this over, with Parthiv getting to his half-century in the fourth ball of the over.
Mumbai Indians need 82 to win from 72 balls.
Parthiv Patel has scored a fifty in IPL after 12 innings. Last time, he scored a fifty in an IPL match was against Kings XI Punjab at Mohali in 2016.
FIFTY for Parthiv Patel, and he gets there in 32 balls, having hit six boundaries and a six so far in the innings! He has been responsible for the quick start that Mumbai got off to earlier today, and has been superb so far to get to his first fifty of this edition!
After 7 overs,Mumbai Indians 68/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 48 , Nitish Rana 11)
Raina into his second over, and the part-time offie will look to get one of the two left-handers out, or both for the matter. Overthrow in the first ball of the seventh over allows Parthiv to come back for a second run. Singles in the remainder of the over, with Parthiv and Rana choosing to rotate the strike between themselves. The umpire signals for the timeout.
Mumbai Indians need 86 to win from 78 balls.
After 6 overs,Mumbai Indians 61/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 43 , Nitish Rana 9)
Andrew Tye finally into the attack in the final over of powerplay, with Gujarat captain Raina looking up to him for another breakthrough at this stage. FOUR! Deft touch by Parthiv in the first ball of the over, guiding it towards third man! Two doubles and a single in the remainder of the over, with nine coming off it.
Mumbai Indians need 93 to win from 84 balls.
After 5 overs,Mumbai Indians 52/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 34 , Nitish Rana 7)
Raina comes into the attack, with Rana walking to the crease after the dismissal of Buttler. SIX! Rana doesn’t wait long to get the first six of his innings, going down on one knee and slogging towards the midwicket boundary. Brings up the team 50, with 9 coming off the fifth over.
Jos Buttler’s strike rate of 154.36 in this IPL is the second best among all the openers who have faced 100 or more balls. Jos Buttler has scored 230 runs from 149 balls in this IPL.
After 4 overs,Mumbai Indians 43/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 34 , )
Soni introduced into the attack in the fourth over of the innings, and he succeeds in bringing the run-rate down to less than 11 from well over 13, with Buttler getting run-out at the striker’s end, thanks to a superb direct hit from Faulkner from point. Three runs and a wicket in this over.
OUT! Gujarat finally get the breakthrough, and it is Buttler who has to walk back to the dugout after falling short of the striker’s end! Superb direct hit by Faulkner followed by some confusion between Parthiv and Buttler. MI 43/1
Buttler run out (Faulkner) 9(7)
After 3 overs,Mumbai Indians 40/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 32 , Jos Buttler 8)
Irfan Pathan into the attack now. FOUR! Parthiv pulls a slower ball from Pathan away towards the backward square-leg boundary. SIX! Pulled away again, this time in front of square, with the ball disappearing over the midwicket boundary. Four to end the over, with Parthiv flicking the last ball towards long-leg. 16 off the over! The Gujarat attack looking clueless at the moment!
After 2 overs,Mumbai Indians 24/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 16 , Jos Buttler 8)
Faulkner bowls from the other end. FOUR! Parthiv goes for an uppish drive, with the ball being at a catchable height, but is perfectly placed between cover and extra-cover! FOUR! Parthiv goes for the cut this time, with the ball running away for a boundary towards deep backward point despite the fielder inside the circle getting a bit of hand to it. Expensive start for the Gujarat attack, with 24 coming off the first two overs.
After 1 overs,Mumbai Indians 13/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 5 , Jos Buttler 8)
FOUR! Parthiv makes a statement at the start of the over with a powerful cut towards backward point, getting a boundary at the start of the over. Buttler then gets a boundary for himself with a gentle push through wide mid-on that carries all the way, thanks to the lightning-quick outfield. Second boundary for Buttler to end the over, with the Englishman guiding it down towards fine-leg! Good start for Mumbai.
Parthiv Patel and Jos Buttler walk out to open the innings for Mumbai Indians. Parthiv starts with a boundary. MI need 154 runs to win this match
Pretty good bowling performance from Mumbai Indians especially in the middle overs where they really broke the back of the Mumbai innings. Rohit Sharma was disappointed with his side conceding a bit too many runs in the death overs which allowed Gujarat Lions to get past the score of 150. MI bowlers succeeded when they took the pace off the ball and GL would certainly hope that they can make it hard for the visiting batsman. MI failed to chase a similar target in the last game and they will need big effort from their top order here. MI have the upper hand at the moment but not by much
Gujarat Lions have won only one match while batting first in IPL. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have lost only one match while chasing in this IPL.
After 20 overs,Gujarat Lions 153/9 ( Basil Thampi 2 , Ankit Soni 7)
McClenaghan to bowl the final over as expected. DROPPED! McClenaghan would have redeemed himself with a wicket had Rana held on to what was a dolly! The fielding continues to be terrible in IPL 10 Thampi strikes the penultimate ball of the over well towards sweeper cover, though only to get a single. SIX! Soni brings up the 150 for Gujarat Lions with a heave over long-off in the last ball of the innings!
Mumbai Indians need 154 to win from 20 overs.
After 19 overs,Gujarat Lions 144/9 ( Basil Thampi 0 , )
Bumrah into his final over. FOUR! Tye, who goes past Faulkner in no time, goes for a square-drive in the first ball. Much better delivery by Bumrah to follow, though this time he oversteps, which is then followed by another front-foot no-ball in the free-hit! Cramps tye for room in the second free-hit, allowing him only a single. FOUR! Faulkner reaches out for the slower ball outside off, and whacks it towards wide long-on. Full toss next ball, which Faulker guides towards sweeper cover for a couple of runs. Bumrah though has the last laugh in the over, with Tye and Faulkner getting dismissed in the last two balls of the over.
15 runs and two wickets off the penultimate over, and we have two batsmen who have not faced a single delivery yet for the last over.
OUT! What a way for Bumrah to end the over, firing a yorker this time that goes under Faulkner’s right leg, with the batsman leaning to his right to guide it towards fine-leg. GL 144/9
OUT! Tye is caught short of his crease at the non-striker’s end, after Bumrah collects a ball that was travelling well over his head, and runs back to the stumps to effect the dismissal. GL 144/8
Tye run-out (Bumrah) 25(12)
After 18 overs,Gujarat Lions 129/7 ( James Faulkner 14 , Andrew Tye 20)
McClenaghan continues from the other end. FOUR! Finch slaps the second ball of the over towards the wide long-off boundary. Tye then makes a statement with back-to-back sixes, hammering towards the square-leg and long-off boundaries! 19 runs off this over, and suddenly the 150-mark doesn’t look like a long haul for Gujarat now!
After 17 overs,Gujarat Lions 110/7 ( James Faulkner 9 , Andrew Tye 6)
Tye walks out to bat alongside fellow Aussie Finch, with Bumrah bowling the 17th over. FOUR! Tye doesn’t quite connect in the fourth ball of the over, but there isnt much of a protection near long-off. two fielders converge from different directions but fail to stop the boundary. Eight off the over. Finch will look to get a few lusty blows to get his side as close to 150 as possible.
After 16 overs,Gujarat Lions 102/7 ( James Faulkner 7 , Andrew Tye 0)
Krunal into his final over. Swing and miss for Faulkner in the first ball. Irfan tries to go big towards the leg side, but ends up miscuing it to Hardik at deep midwicket. Just two runs and a wicket for Krunal in his last over of the day, as he finishes with superb figures of 3/14 from four overs!
OUT! Pathan’s stay at the crease comes to an end, as he miscues one high up in the air, and gets caught at midwicket! Hardik Pandya takes a catch off brother Krunal’s bowling. What a spell Krunal is having right now! The umpire signals the timeout after the dismissal. GL 101/7
Irfan c Hardik b Krunal 2(3)
After 15 overs,Gujarat Lions 100/6 ( James Faulkner 5 , Irfan Pathan 2)
Irfan Pathan walks out to bat for the first time in this tournament, and gets off the mark first ball with a single towards the off side. Malinga, who is bowling his last over after an expensive spell, concedes five off this over, with the team 100 coming up at the end of it.
After 14 overs,Gujarat Lions 95/6 ( James Faulkner 3 , Irfan Pathan 0)
Krunal into his third over, and he has been brilliant so far. Finch gets a leading edge in the first ball that falls well short of the cover fielder. It doesn’t take long before the pressure created by the lack of boundaries gets the better of Jadeja, as he top-edges the fifth ball to lob the ball high into the orbit, and get caught by the bowler. Just three runs and a wicket in this over.
OUT! Krunal continues to fly high! Jadeja looks for a big hit, getting down on one knee and looking for a slog sweep, but ends up mistiming it to offer Krunal a return catch! GL 95/6
Jadeja c&b Krunal 28(21)
After 13 overs,Gujarat Lions 92/5 ( Ravindra Jadeja 27 , James Faulkner 1)
Bumrah back into the attack after a brilliant first over. Bit of a mix-up between Jadeja and Finch in the fourth ball of the over, with the former going for an uppercut towards backward point off a back-of-length delivery from Bumrah. Eight off the over.
Meanwhile, replays show Bhajji’s lbw appeal to be a valid one, as it would have gone on to hit, and not clip, the leg-stump.
After 12 overs,Gujarat Lions 84/5 ( Ravindra Jadeja 20 , James Faulkner 0)
Bhajji into the attack for his final over, and gets the big wicket of Kishan first ball, with the youngster missing out on his maiden IPL fifty by just two runs. Faulkner walks out, and nearly gets run-out in the second delivery that he faces. Big shout for lbw in the last ball, though an unsuccessful one. Harbhajan finishes with fine figures of 1/23 from four overs.
Harbhajan gets a well deserved wicket. The Mumbai Indians bowlers played with the patience of the Ishan Kishan who chose the wrong shot at the wrong time. The veteran spinner has been bowling extremely well in this IPL and even in this game he has given little away. Bowled stump to stump offering very little pace, thus not allowing the batsmen to free their arms without taking any risks
OUT! Kishan’s unfortunate to have missed out on his maiden IPL fifty by just two runs. Looks to swat a tossed up ball from Harbhajan, but ends up miscuing it to Pollard stationed at long-off. GL 83/5
Kishan c Pollard b Harbhajan 48(35)
After 11 overs,Gujarat Lions 83/4 ( Ishan Kishan 48 , Ravindra Jadeja 20)
Malinga into his third over. FOUR! Jadeja steers the second ball of the over towards the third man boundary! Raina fails to collect a throw from Harbhajan, which allows Jadeja to collect a second run. Productive over for Gujarat, with 13 coming off it, and this partnership is starting to blossom right now.
After 10 overs,Gujarat Lions 70/4 ( Ishan Kishan 48 , Ravindra Jadeja 8)
Harbhajan bowls his third over, with Gujarat needing quick runs on the board for them to ease some of the pressure off their backs. Kishan comes down the ground in the last ball of the over, connects well, and collects his sixth boundary.
After 9 overs,Gujarat Lions 62/4 ( Ishan Kishan 42 , Ravindra Jadeja 6)
Krunal into the attack for his second over, and proves his worth once again by firing a quicker delivery down Karthik’s leg-side, with the latter losing his balance and getting stumped in the process. Jadeja walks out to bat, gets down on one knee, and smashes the fourth ball of the over towards cow-corner for a clean hit! Seven runs and a wicket off this over.
OUT! Gujarat are starting to lose their way out here right now! Krunal fires one down Karthik’s leg side, and the latter loses his balance and is well out of his crease by the time Parthiv flicks the bails off. And it is the Gujarati combination of Krunal and Parthiv that effect the fourth dismissal of Gujarat’s innings. GL 55/4
Karthik st Parthiv b Krunal 2(8)
After 8 overs,Gujarat Lions 55/3 ( Ishan Kishan 42 , Dinesh Karthik (W) 2)
Bhajji back into the attack for his second over. Misfield in the second ball by Malinga at short third man lets Kishan run off for a quick single. Another good over for Mumbai, with just four singles coming off it. The visitors have been successful in drying the runs up for the home side. The umpire signals for the timeout at the end of the over.
After 7 overs,Gujarat Lions 51/3 ( Ishan Kishan 40 , Dinesh Karthik (W) 0)
Krunal, who returns after a bout of illness, is into the attack after powerplay. Appeal for an lbw in the fifth ball of the over, though the umpire isn’t interested. Just three off the over, with the team 50 coming up in this over. Both GL batsmen under pressure at the moment.
Good comeback from the Mumbai Indians bowlers after a few expensive overs at the start. Bumrah and Malinga have succeeded by taking pace off the ball. The variations have kept the Gujarat batsmen on the toes. Their run rate remains pretty good, but those three wickets in that PowerPlay means they would need some rebuilding now
After 6 overs,Gujarat Lions 48/3 ( Ishan Kishan 38 , Dinesh Karthik (W) 0)
Malinga into his second over. Kishan looking well set at the moment. Malinga starts off with a slew of slower balls, with Kishan miscuing the third ball towards the vacant mid-on region. Malinga grabs his second wicket with a 135kmph delivery (in contrast to the slower balls earlier in the over) that Finch gets an inside-edg to, with the ball hitting his stumps via a deflection off his hip. Mumbai pull things back in style at the end of the powerplay, after the start by Kishan.
OUT! Finch chops a rising delivery from Malinga onto his stumps, as Mumbai get another wicket in the powerplay! This one was a medium-pacer, and back-of-length, and Finch got an inside-edge that hit the stumps via a deflection off his hip. Gujarat Lions 48/3
Finch b Malinga 0(3)
Aaron Finch’s strike rate of 172.22 is the second best among all the batsmen in this IPL who have faced atleast 100 balls. He has scored 186 runs from seven innings at an average of 31.00 before today.
After 5 overs,Gujarat Lions 47/2 ( Ishan Kishan 37 , Aaron Finch 0)
Bumrah is brought into the attack in the fifth over, and brings balance back into the game with a brilliant over, getting rid of Raina as the latter chips a length ball towards mid-on. Gives away just one run in the over. Meanwhile, Finch walks out to bat.
OUT! Bumrah into the attack, and gets a wicket in just his second ball! Gets rid of the in-form Raina, who chips a length ball towards mid-on, where Pollard reaches out for the catch! GL 46/2
Raina c Pollard b Bumrah 1(3)
Ishan Kishan playing a good hand so far but he’s being helped by Mumbai Indians who have bowled way too many short deliveries on a track that is offering little for the bowlers. All of Kishan’s runs have come off deliveries short of length and the MI bowlers need to rethink their strategy. Credit to the youngster for punishing almost all the bad balls so far
After 4 overs,Gujarat Lions 46/1 ( Ishan Kishan 36 , Suresh Raina (C) 1)
Harbhajan into the attack now, with Raina having struggled against the veteran offie in the past. FOUR! Ksihan continues to plunder the MI attack for runs, this time against Bhajji, getting the ball to scurry away to the backward point fence off a cut. Raina finally gets the strike in the fourth ball, and gets a single off his first ball. FOUR! Kishan reaches out for the pull, and hammers it towards the wide long-on boundary! 10 off the over.
Players to play for six different teams in IPL:
Parthiv Patel
Aaron Finch
Thisara Perera
IRFAN PATHAN*
After 3 overs,Gujarat Lions 36/1 ( Ishan Kishan 27 , Suresh Raina (C) 0)
Kishan goes slam bang in this over, going for a majestic pull in the first ball of the over, before targeting the off-side for back-to-back boundaries, opening the face of his bat in the third ball to let it race away towards third man. Single to end the over, with 15 coming off it. Terrific batting by young Kishan so far in the innings.
Suresh Raina’s average of 61.80 in this IPL is the third best among all the players who have scored atleast 250 runs in IPL 2017. He has scored 309 runs from eight innings at a strike rate of 141.74. He is also the highest run-scorer in IPL history. Moreover, he also holds the record of scoring most runs at Rajkot in IPL.
Suresh Raina has been dismissed by Harbhajan Singh five times in IPL which is the most times any bowler has dismissed him in IPL. It will be intriguing to see when Harbhajan Singh will bowl today.
After 2 overs,Gujarat Lions 21/1 ( Ishan Kishan 12 , )
Lasith Malinga into the attack from the other end, and concedes a wide in the second ball of the over. Kishan times his flick towards cow-corner perfectly off a fuller delivery from Malinga, before McCullum smacks one towards point for his first boundary. Malinga though, has the last laugh, as he castles McCUllum with an accurate length delivery .
BOWLED EM! Malinga sends McCullum’s stumps flying early in the innings, and gest rid of the dangerous Baz! The former Kiwi captain came down the track, looking to smash the length ball down the ground, but played along the wrong line and missed the ball completely. GL 21/1
McCullum b Malinga 6(4)
After 1 overs,Gujarat Lions 7/0 ( Ishan Kishan 5 , Brendon McCullum 1)
McClenaghan opens the bowling for Mumbai, with Kishan on strike, and starts off with a wide. FOUR! Kishan gets a bit of an edge to a bouncer from McClenaghan in the third ball. Two singles exchanged in the last two balls of the over, with Brendon McCullum getting off the mark in the first ball that he faces.
Brendon McCullum has hit 16 sixes in this IPL so far which is the joint second most by any player in this IPL.
Mumbai Indians going with the tried an tested line-up that has brought them success this season. Lasith Malinga has been MI’s go-to bowler for years now an once again they have turned to the Sri Lankan pacer to get them back to winning ways. Krunal Pandya is back in the side after Karn Sharma failed to make a telling impact. This appears to be MI’s strongest side and no surprise that Rohit Sharma has gone with this side for a crucial game in Rajkot
First couple of weeks saw some very close, exciting matches; next 2 weeks, so many have been one-sided. Frontrunners & laggards now defined

RCB batting performance this season clearly shows how bogus the Batting 3.0 nonsense was. In T20, there really isn't much to 'batting'.
