Commonwealth Games 2022 HIGHLIGHTS Day 2: Mirabai Chanu won India’s first gold medal of the 2022 Commonwealth Games after establishing a Games Record in Women’s 49kg weightlifting. Weightlifter Bindyarani Devi had claimed silver in 55kg women’s category on late Saturday Earlier, Sanket Sargar opened the country’s account by winning the silver medal in men’s 55kg weightlifting event. He registered a total lift of 248kgs to clinch the silver medal. Later, Gururaja Poojari added a bronze medal in the men’s 61kg category of weightlifting. In team events: shuttlers beat Sri Lanka 5-0; women’s table tennis side beat Guyana 3-0, men beat Northern Ireland by the same margin. Women’s paddlers are currently taking on Malaysia.
