This morning politics and sport find equal space in the morning newspapers, given that both have generated their fair share of controversy. In sports of course, the whole Ian Bell episode and whether Dhoni should have called him back or not takes centre stage. There is also the whole “Vaseline on the bat” incident, where former England skipper Michael Vaughn tweeted that Indian batsman Laxman could have been using Vaseline on his bat to manipulate the hot-spot system.

In politics of course, the monsoon session of parliament is due to get underway, and all the newspapers have extensively covered what issues and bills are scheduled to come up for discussion. Of course both the government and the opposition have plenty to throw at each other, so we should expect a lot of drama as well. (Especially since the Congress has something to hit back on). In Karnataka, we look at if Yeddyurappa’s suggestion that Sadanand Gowda replace him as CM is likely to be considered at all by the BJP.
