Many BJP members are finding it hard to digest the fact that Uma Bharti is the party’s chief ministerial candidate with Kalraj Mishra being the latest to oppose the announcement after Vinay Katiyar.
Leaders like Mishra and Katiyar are of the view that Bharti is an outsider and cannot be a chief ministerial candidate; she is from Madhya Pradesh.
However, denying the report, Katiyar said: “The chief ministerial candidate will be determined by the MLAs of the party after recommendation from the parliamentary board.”
The Congress, immediately tried to take advantage of the infighting in the saffron party. “People like Katiyar and Mishra spent their whole lives strengthening the party. Now (BJP president) Nitin Gadkari has suddenly imposed Uma Bharti on them,” Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said.
